Raider Nation Newsletter
Week of June 6, 2022
Congratulations Class of 2022!
Dear Atholton Families,
We have arrived at the penultimate newsletter for the 2021-2022 school year! Where has the year gone??
Congratulations to the Class of 2022!! Last Thursday was Atholton’s Commencement Ceremony. It was a fantastic morning filled with joy and celebration. A job well-done Class of 2022. BRAVO! It is through this newsletter that we bid farewell to our seniors and their families. Your last newsletter! I wish you all the best! You may watch the ceremony here.
There are still another two weeks of school for the rest of us! There are a few items regarding the close of the year that parents need to know. First, all students will keep their ChromeBooks UNLESS they are withdrawing from HCPSS or have graduated. Second, please be sure to settle any outstanding obligations -- lost textbooks, etc.
As we close out this year, we are gearing up for the 2022 - 2023 school year. On Thursday, June 9, students and families will receive lists of courses indicating what students are registered for next year. If you have any questions regarding the list of courses, please contact your child’s counselor.
The final three days of school are early dismissal days. The schedule for June 14, 15-17 is below. Those students who are enrolled at ARL will remain in school during this time.
I am excited about the welcoming event this Thursday, June 9 -- Middle School Visitation Day. Our five middle school feeders will visit Raider Nation and learn about what high school has to offer. There will be a formal student orientation in August.
Just when you thought school athletics were over – the Atholton Swim Team capture the county title! Congratulations to the entire swim team, their parents, and sponsor Dr. Elshaefi. The boys finished in third place, our girls first, and the entire team captured the county title. Well done!
REMINDER – We have a 3hr Early Dismissal this Wednesday, June 8.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION -- PLEASE COMPLETE
As part of our school improvement process, we are asking families to provide input about their equity priorities for our school. Please use the link below to complete the Indicators of Educational Equity Survey by June 10, 2022. We will use your input, along with other school data, to refine our school improvement plan for next school year.
The survey is anonymous and available in multiple languages. If you have children at more than one school, please complete one survey per school.
If you have any questions, please contact me at Robert_Motley@hcpss.org. Every school in Howard County is working to gain input as we all prepare to create our school improvement plans. Your input is invaluable as we need to hear from you regarding the Indicators of Educational Equity Survey.
Have a terrific week!
Warmest regards,
Robert A. Motley
