Hello HGSE Family!
Thank you to all of our families, students, teachers, and staff for a wonderful first week of school! We appreciate the support, flexibility, understanding, and excitement about starting school this year!
Here are a few reminders to even make our second week greater!
- Bus Riders- please be at the bus stop 10 min prior to anticipated pick up time. Be patient with early morning pick up and after noon drop offs as times will need to be adjusted the first two weeks of school as we learn ridership. See the bus flyer below for more information.
- Morning Car Riders- Tomorrow, Monday morning, we will begin routing the traffic through the bus loop just like the afternoon car rider line. This is in hopes to lessen the traffic jam on the main road. Please be patient as this will be new for us for the morning routes.
Please pull all the way around and up on the left side of the building even with the first outside door. We will promptly open the outside doors at 7:15. Children are encouraged to exit the car door as soon as the car line stops on the side. Do not wait to pull up to the A hall doorway and/or for someone to open your car door. Staff are out on duty for supervision and safety, but not necessarily opening car doors. It is helpful to have your child begin to unbuckle, gather his/her belongings, and say goodbyes when you reach the flagpole in front of the school to prepare for exiting the car when the car line stops.
- TARDY BELL- Rings at 7:45am. Students need to be in the building and into a classroom prior to 7:45am each morning as instruction begins.
- Breakfast is provided in the classroom each morning beginning at 7:15am.
Breakfast and Lunch Prices- We are so happy to announce that both items are free to all students this school year! We still encourage those that are able to apply for free/reduced lunch as it will support other initiatives and funding.
- Afternoon Buses- Please have an adult visible to receive children in grades prek-2nd at the bus stop. Children in grades 3rd-6th may be dropped off without an adult at the bus stop, but always encouraged to have someone for proper supervision. Also, drop off times may be a little different the first week of school. If you have registered your child to be a bus rider, you should be receiving automated calls with bus number and bus stop/time information.
- Afternoon Car riders- Once the car line reaches the "school sign", please form your line in the grass off the road and loop through the bus lot. Do not hold up traffic on the road to turn into the building. Please watch staff trying to assist the flow and watch "the other cars" to help you know what to do. Try to pay attention and keep the car line flowing.
- Families are welcome to visit and eat lunch with your child(ren). Please remember your ID to check in and enter the building for all events.
- Communication- We encourage our families to connect and partner with your child's teachers to promote a successful school year! We invite you to follow school newsletters, read emails, answer phone calls, visit the school, participate in events, and be active with your child's education each day. Please let us know how we can help you in anyway!
