READ BELOW FOR IMPORTANT SOLAR ECLIPSE PLANS 4/8/24
On Monday, April 8, 2024, Phoenix will experience a partial solar eclipse. According to experts, the partial eclipse will begin at approximately 10:08am and end at approximately 12:35pm.
Safety is paramount when observing any type of solar eclipse, including a partial solar eclipse. Here are plans for our students:
- All schools will be open and teaching and learning will take place as usual.
- Our campus will have indoor recess during the duration of the eclipse since we do not have safe viewing devices available.
- Students dismissed between the hours of 10:08 am and 12:35 pm will be reminded by staff to not look at the sun when they exit the building.
Below are basic eclipse viewing safeguards:
- Never look directly at the sun. Even during a partial solar eclipse, looking directly at the sun can cause severe eye damage or even blindness.
- No homemade filters. Children should never attempt to make their own solar filters or view the eclipse through improvised methods such as sunglasses, smoked glass, or CDs. These methods do not provide adequate protection from harmful solar radiation.
Additional safety tips and guidelines are available on the District website.

Legend Springs tax credit funds are typically used to support our special area programs AND fund our All Things E.Q. social emotional learning program. We truly appreciate you supporting our school!
The Arizona tax credit program (A.R.S. 43-1089.01) allows a tax credit of up to $200 for individuals and up to $400 for married couples, filing jointly, in support of extracurricular activities.
The tax credit reduces your tax burden to the state of Arizona, dollar for dollar.
In order to take advantage of the tax credit donation for the 2023 tax year, you must make your donation by April 15, 2024.
Your tax credit goes directly to the school you choose, not to the state or district. .

ENVIRONMENTAL INPUT FOR STUDENT PLACEMENT
DVUSD guidelines do not allow a specific teacher to be requested, but may allow parents to provide input on their child’s needs and the type of teacher that may best serve their child’s needs. It is our belief at Legend Springs that teachers and parents can provide the best education possible for our children by working together. The responsibility for assignment of students resides with the principal and teachers working together to place students in a learning environment that best meets the needs of the student. Also keep in mind that teachers may change grade levels and/or schools which also adjusts class placement. Therefore, providing detailed information regarding the preferred learning environment and your child’s needs is critical. If you have multiple children, you will need to fill out one form per child.
We will take the following information into consideration when placing your child with a classroom that best fits your child’s profile.
Form must be submitted by April 12, 2024. Any input provided after April 12 may not be considered due to scheduling timelines.
REMINDER - NO OUTSIDE BIRTHDAY TREATS/FOOD POLICY
FRONT OFFICE REMINDERS - ARRIVAL & DISMISSAL
Office Support
Also-- no students will be released after 3:15PM from the office. If you arrive to pick up your child early to avoid traffic lines you will have to wait until the Kinder release (3:20) or 1st-6th release (3:30) to get your child. This minimizes classroom disruptions and ensures students are completing their full day of learning.
Students arriving for breakfast must enter through the front office and cannot arrive before 8:15AM. They must sit in the cafeteria for the entire breakfast period until 8:30AM bell rings to transition to the classroom.
