OC Register Artist of the Year
Introduced in 2014, the Orange County Register’s Artist of Year program highlights the creative and artistic talents of high students all over Orange County. Out of the 79,000 combined high school seniors and juniors here in Orange County, only 892 students have the honor of being nominated for this special accolade. Within that total figure, Villa Park High School currently proudly houses several of those students, composing a majority of nominated students within Orange Unified. The following Spartans were nominated for their artistic talents:
Fine Arts: Senior, Hannah Lee; Senior, Allesandra Ringgold
Instrumental Music: Senior, Alexa Pierce
Media Arts: Senior, Nathan Alexander Ayala

Thank A Custodian Day
Thursday, Villa Park High School’s “Kindness Club” celebrated Thank a Custodian Day to honor our custodians for the hard work that they do daily. The Kindness Club and Advisor Mrs. Deuning also hosted a lunch, paid for by generous donations from teachers here on campus. Made by ASB, several posters were put in the breezeway thanking each individual custodian.
Without Villa Park High School’s custodians, our campus would be incomplete. Thank you for everything that you do!
VPHS Fundrasing Opportunities
We’re happy to announce that a new webpage has been created, in response to parent feedback, to collect all fundraiser events that occur throughout the school year. Should you wish you promote your event, please contact Mr. Pongco at jpongco@orangeusd.org. We are able to feature events on our newsletter, this new webpage, and in school email broadcasts to our parents and students.

VPHS Scholars with Distinction Program
Parents of 11th grade Spartans,
I am excited to announce the Villa Park High School, Scholars with Distinction Program in which we recognize any student that meets or exceeds standards in both English Langrage Arts and in Math on the SBAC test. SBAC or, Smarter Balanced Assessment, is the standardized assessment that all 11th grade students take in the spring. At Villa Park, we use SBAC data to award students that pass both English and Math portions of the test as Scholars with Distinction. Every Scholar with Distinction will be given a cord to wear at graduation and will receive special recognition when they are seniors. In 2022-2023, 124 students earned this recognition.
SBAC testing will start April 9th. Please be sure to let your student know that they have an opportunity to receive special recognition as a Scholar with Distinction and they need to give maximum effort. If you have any questions, please feel free email or contact your administration team.

Spartan Profiles
Tritia Gonzalez-Registrar
Written by: Alexander Tran
Graduating from Santa Ana College as a nursing major, Mrs. Gonzalez currently serves Villa Park High School as a Registrar in the counseling office. While attending college, Mrs. Gonzalez completed a medical assistant assignment at “Taller San Jose Hope Builders”. Prior to her matriculation at Santa Ana College, Mrs. Gonzalez also attended nearby Santa Ana High School where was active in the school’s field hockey and softball teams. Joining our Spartan family in October of 2021, Mrs. Gonzalez previously worked at Palmyra Elementary School in Orange. Outside campus, she is an avid sports fan who enjoys the presence of her friends and family.
Aliza Randall-Health Clerk
Written by: Alexander Tran
Graduating from Irvine Valley College as a Early Child Education major, Mrs. Randall currently serves Villa Park High School as a Health Clerk. Prior to attending Irvine Valley College, Mrs. Randall attended Lakeside High School where she was active in the school’s tennis team, Mock Trial, and ping pong club. She graduated from Lakeside in 2013 with a handful of experiences that would ultimately prepare her for the job that she has here on campus. This is especially true as it speaks to Mrs. Randall’s longtime history in tutoring, volunteering, and work with special needs students. When asked about what drives her passion for students, Mrs. Randall believes it would be getting to know them and especially helping underserved groups on campus. Outside of work, Mrs. Randall enjoys playing the guitar, photography, and going to Disneyland.
