*Exciting* Upcoming Workshop Details!
As one of our school-wide goals of teaching math through small guided math groups we are getting a core of our teachers trained so that we can teach the rest of our colleagues how to facilitate effective, differentiated, small group math instruction.

Checkin is 8:00-8:30 with the seminar beginning at 8:30 and ending at 3:15. It will be held at the Holiday Inn in Sandston off of Airport Rd. This is BER (Bureau of Education & Research) workshop. Moving with Math Update (K-2 Teachers Only)
Henrico just renewed their license with Moving with Math. Please enter your students' scores to the Moving with Math site. I have placed your usernames and passwords in your mailboxes. If you should ever misplace this info. just email me and I can send you it. You may change your password at any time. I can still "see" it on my end. Go to http://www.movingwithmath.com/ then click on the "assessment" button. You will not be entering a book series just adding the prescreening data. You will need to enter the answers for each question for each student which I realize is a giant pain. I am in the process of entering your student rolls to make it a little less daunting.
Problem of the Day books (Grades 1-5 Only)
Teachers please begin using the Evan Moore Problem of the Day books. Many of you requested that you have some of the lower grade books to start. I have added the e-versions of those books in your grade level Google docs. It is fine to skip around according to your pacing. You may use the "Problem of the Day" for either morning work or embed in math instruction as a math journal station.
Manipulatives
Did you know that some states have actually mandated the use of manipulatives? California, North Carolina, Texas, and Tennessee are a few states that have required their use. Please try to use manipulatives whenever you teach math. Bookmark our manipulative database and watch some of the videos to gather ideas on how to use these manipulatives. https://docs.google.com/a/henrico.k12.va.us/spreadsheets/d/1WipLmtzCnxNjRYjcsavnZxXlZqheP-aFi2B5odhACAw/edit#gid=1995414533
