Athens High School
Some thoughts for the starting school year
A letter from the Principal
Hello Red Hawks,
As we transition from the exhilarating winter sports season to the promise of spring, I extend a warm welcome to each of you. Each month I am excited to communicate the amazing things happening at Athens High School.
As we gear up for the spring sports season, I want to commend our athletes for their dedication and sportsmanship displayed throughout the winter. Your hard work and commitment have not gone unnoticed, and we look forward to seeing your continued success on the field, court, pool, mat, and track.
In addition to the excitement of spring sports, we are also diligently preparing for state testing, scheduled for April. Our teachers and staff are working tirelessly to ensure our students are well-prepared to demonstrate their academic proficiency and excellence. The College Board has wonderful resources for students to use to practice and prepare for each assessment.
As we approach the end of March, I encourage students, their families, and the staff to take advantage of the upcoming spring break as a time for rest, rejuvenation, and quality time spent together.
Furthermore, we will soon begin the process of student scheduling for the upcoming academic year. This process is very important, as the students get to craft and select courses that will cultivate their academic experience here at AHS. Important updates and deadlines regarding course selection and academic planning are swiftly approaching, students and families are encouraged to visit the District Scheduling Hub on the TSD website.
Lastly, I am thrilled to announce our upcoming 9th-grade curriculum night on March 19th. This event will provide an opportunity for incoming freshmen and their families to learn more about the academic offerings and extracurricular opportunities available at Troy Athens High School.
In conclusion, I am confident that the remainder of the school year will be filled with excitement, growth, and achievement. Thank you for your continued support and dedication to the Troy Athens community.
Go RED HAWKS,
Vernon Burden, Principal
