Miners in the Middle

Dear Parents/Guardians & Students,

This is a historic and exciting week for Miner Nation!

• STATE BOUND! For the first time in school history, both our Miners and Lady Miners basketball teams are the Area Champions! This means both teams are headed to the State Tournament! Even more special, this is the "Last Dance at the Big House," marking the final year the tournament will be held at the State Fair Arena.

  • We will have a send-off for our teams at 9:00 AM on Wednesday.
  • The first round of the State Tournament is on Thursday:
    • Miners play at 10:30 AM
    • Lady Miners play at 7:30 PM
    • Both games will be held at the State Fair Arena.
  • To allow our students and community to support our teams, HPS will have a virtual day on Thursday, March 6th. Paper packets will be sent home with students on Wednesday.

• Regional Powerlifting Competition: HPS will be hosting a three-day Regional Powerlifting Meet at Taylor Gym.

  • Wednesday: Middle School Weigh-Ins at 7:00 AM, Lifting starts at 9:00 AM
  • Thursday: Large School Weigh-Ins at 7:00 AM, Lifting starts at 9:00 AM
  • Friday: Small School Weigh-Ins at 7:00 AM, Lifting starts at 9:00 AM

• Other Big Events This Week:

  • Choctaw Rise Field Trip on Tuesday
  • District Concert Band Competition at SEOSU on Tuesday

• Band Success! Congratulations to our band on their outstanding performances at the Pre-District Contest last week! They earned a "1" in sight reading and a "2" on stage.

• FFA & 4-H Success! A huge congratulations to our FFA and 4-H students for their outstanding achievements at the Pittsburg County Jr. Livestock Show. We had numerous champions and reserve champions, and Hartshorne was well-represented! Thank you to the students, sponsors, and families for your hard work and dedication.

• Calendar Update: The Snow Day originally scheduled for April 25 is now a regular school day. Please make sure to update your calendars accordingly.

These are our school-wide expectations for our students. Positive behavior fosters an environment where ALL students can learn and grow. It is our hope that our HMS families will discuss our school-wide behavior expectations and encourage positive behaviors at school and home.

Our school-wide expectations extend beyond the classroom. It is important that students also realize they are accountable for their behaviors in the hallway, cafeteria and at all school sponsored activities on and off campus.
