FROM THE PRINCIPALS
Greetings CMIT-South Families, We’ve had another fantastic week of teaching and learning here at CMIT-South Middle and High School! With the cooler fall weather upon us, students should be sure to dress accordingly. Students may wear their CMIT-South uniform sweaters and jackets in the building, but non-uniform outerwear must be stored in lockers until the end of the school day. Let's ensure everyone is comfortable and in uniform as we continue this great school year. A huge THANK YOU to Mrs. Simmons and Ms. Payton who planned the first High School College & Career Fair of the school year. We had a number of our students receive on the spot admissions! We are looking forward to the next career day and including our Middle School scholars! As we look ahead, we want to remind everyone that the end of the first quarter is quickly approaching on October 31st. Families and scholars, please continue to monitor academic progress in Synergy. If there are any questions about grades or assignments, don’t hesitate to reach out directly to the teachers. Students who need to make up assignments due to excused absences should remember to complete make-up work by the communicated deadline. Thank you for your continued support, and let’s finish this first quarter strong! Safety Reminders As always, the safety of our students is our top priority. It has been brought to our attention that some students are congregating on the soccer field before the building opens. Parents, please remind your students that this is not acceptable as there is no adult supervision on the field or in the parking lot before 8am. Students are also not permitted to walk down the alley unless they are escorted by a parent. Lastly, if you see or hear something inappropriate, then say something! Together, we can ensure a safe environment for everyone. IMPORTANT DATES October 31st - End of 1st Quarter October 14th - October 30th - 100 Responsible Points for MS Students October 28th - November 1st - High School Fall Spirit Week November 1st - MS Fall Dance (Must have 100 Responsible Points to attend) November 1st - 3-Hr Dismissal (Grading & Reporting Day) November 5th - Election Day

VOLLEYBALL CLUB INFORMATION FOR ALL AGES
If you are looking for some volleyball options for your student, please check out the links, flyers, and posts below for clubs in the area. Club volleyball is the best way for players to improve their skills and learn the game of volleyball.
Middle school students should strongly consider playing if they hope to play once they get to high school. High school players should consider playing to strengthen and improve their skills before next season. Also, anyone hoping to play in college should play club, as most college coaches recruit during the club season.
Club tryouts are happening at the start of November for most clubs, and many clubs have teams for both girls and boys. If you aren't ready or can't commit to club volleyball just yet, please still take note of the websites, as some clubs offer clinics throughout the year that could be beneficial for players as well.
The Chesapeake Region Volleyball Association (CHRVA) has compiled a spreadsheet of clubs in our region. The sheet includes each club's updated tryout dates, website, and contact information should you have any questions. Click the link below to access the information.
