Happy New Year Vinewood Families!!
Parent Climate Survey (K-12)
Dear Lodi Unified School District Parents and Guardians,
Each year, the district desires to obtain community input to measure parent and family engagement, including how well the district builds relationships between school staff and families, builds partnerships for student outcomes, and seeks input for decision-making. Each year the district collects this information in part using the Parent Climate Survey. This survey also helps determine the allocation of services included in the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP), and is used to evaluate the School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) for each Title I school site. It is a valuable source of information, and we hope that you take the time to answer thoughtfully. The survey should take about 15 minutes to complete. The survey will be available from December 9th to December 20th. This link will take you to the survey. Your responses will remain anonymous.
Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback!
If you have any questions, contact Uve Dahmen.
Weekly Vinewood Parent Club News!
Thank you to everyone who made our Fall Fundraiser distribution and Mustang Treat Shop go so smoothly last Wednesday, it was a busy minimum day!
A BIG thank you to Laura Huffman for another wonderful Pancakes with Santa event Saturday, we hope everyone enjoyed their time. Thank you to the Kiwanis of Greater Lodi, volunteers, and gracious donors. It is one of our most favorite traditions of the year!
We wish everyone a restful two weeks off. We hope you all can spend some time with friends and family. Looking forward to seeing everyone on January 15 at 6pm in the cafeteria to kick off the second half of the school year.

Upcoming Winter Performances
"Jingle Bell Jukebox" Musical
4th grade students will be performing the "Jingle Bell Jukebox" musical on Wednesday December 18th, 2024, with two daytime performances for students and staff at 8:30am, and 9:30am, and an evening performance for family and friends at 5:30pm. Gates open at 5:00pm. Reserved seat ticket sales for the first four rows will take place on Wednesday December 4th at 7:30am in front of the school (pending weather - possibly under the breezeway). The fifth row and back will be first come first seated. There will be a chance to help volunteer to set up chairs or to help run the raffle table - please be on the lookout for an email from Ms. Guida to sign up to help volunteer. Raffle tickets will be $1/ticket for a chance to win some fun prizes - so please support your music program here at Vinewood Elementary School. Students have the option of wearing something fun and festive, or on theme (the musical is set in the 50s in an ice cream soda shop) - but it is not required. Students who come to the evening performance will write their name on a piece of paper to be entered into the "student raffle" for a chance to win a gift card from one of our sponsors.
Vienna Nursing Home - Choir Students
The choir will have a walking field trip on the last day of school before winter break, Friday December 20th, 2024 - from 12:30pm - 2:30pm (since it is a minimum day, we will start walking over after the end of school). We will be walking over to Vienna Nursing Home to sing a few songs for the residents. I will reach out to the families of Choir students with more information soon.
Lost and Found Clothes and Other Items
Each year, Vinewood donates hundreds of dollars’ worth of jackets and sweaters to local charities. However, some of these donations are unintentional—when students leave items on the playground or in the cafeteria and fail to claim them from the lost and found. Our lost and found is located by our front gate entrance. Unfortunately, this can leave students without warm clothing during the colder months.
To help avoid this, we ask that parents and guardians label all outerwear with the student’s name and room number. This greatly increases the chances that lost items will be returned, ensuring students stay warm throughout the winter.
Weather permitting, we do display our lost and found items in the courtyard before the winter break. Students will have the opportunity to claim their belongings during this time. After Friday, December 20th, any unclaimed items will be donated to a local charity.
Thank you for your support!
Open Enrollment for 2025-2026 School Year (K-12)
The Board of Education of LUSD Policy 5116.1 regarding Intradistrict Open Enrollment requires us to notify parents of this option at the beginning of each school year. Existing law requires each child is to attend the school in which the residence of the parent or legal guardian is located. Assembly Bill No. 1114 adopted July 20, 1993, required that the governing board of each school district establish a policy of open enrollment within the district.
A child already attending school in the district may request an Open Enrollment agreement to attend another school in the district outside of their attendance area. Pursuant to the policy, an Intradistrict Open Enrollment request can be filed starting December 1st, 2023, and no later than February 1st, 2025, for next year’s enrollment. New students registering for kindergarten have a deadline of February 14th , 2025, to turn in the request.
In K-6 and K-8 schools, applications must be submitted each year. In high schools and middle schools, once the application is approved, it is valid for the remaining years.
Under this policy, parents may apply for enrollment in any district school, however, the following limitations will apply:
▪ Requests for Intradistrict Open Enrollment Agreements must be received by February 1st each year for enrollment the following school year. Applications may be accepted after this time if the principal determines that special circumstances exist.
▪ Students are accepted only if space is available and pupils residing in the attendance area are not displaced.
▪ Schools will retain some seats for projected enrollment of new students coming into their attendance area whenever possible.
▪ The district shall retain authority to maintain appropriate racial and ethnic balance among respective schools.
▪ Transportation shall not be provided for a student on an Open Enrollment Agreement.
Alternative attendance programs within the district include:
▪ Independent Study K-12: Grades K-12 at Independence School in Lodi. Students must meet certain criteria for enrollment.
▪ Valley Robotics Academy
Parents may obtain an open enrollment application from their school. Notification will be no later than July 2025, for grades K-12, of a student's acceptance or denial for entrance to a school, for the 2025-26 school year. If a request is denied, parents may reapply the following school year before February 1st. To appeal a site level decision, parents can contact the Child Welfare and Attendance Office.
