If your child needs to miss school, you must report the absence.
You may report an absence in any of the following ways:
- School Website: Report an Absence.
- Email our attendance secretary (ldbattenfield@smcps.org) and your child's teacher.
- Send a handwritten note with the date(s) and reason for the absence, the student’s full name, and the parent's signature. The note can be turned in when the child returns to school.

Students who complete a Dent Dolphin Reader Form each month will have their name announced at our Quarterly Awards Assembly and receive a token for a FREE KIDS 1 Topping Pizza at Ledo Pizza in Charlotte Hall!
Now is the time to sign-up for chorus and instrumental music classes!
Band is open to all 4th and 5th grade students, and string orchestra is open to all 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students. These classes meet during the school day two times each week. More information can be found in this Instrument Recruitment Letter. The deadline to enroll is September 11th. Please contact Mrs. Holm at kmholm@smcps.org with any questions.
Chorus is open to students in grades 4 and 5. Chorus class meets once a week during the school day. Please review this letter and information sheet. For more information please contact Mr. Christian at pmchristian@smcps.org.

The PTA Membership Drive ends this Friday, September 6. As of last Friday, Ms. Davis' class is in the lead with 31% of families joining our PTA.
