PV BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT - 9/19

PV School is pleased to have our annual Back to School Night on Thursday, September 19th. The program will begin at 7:00. Prevention is Key will host “Hidden in Plain Sight” starting at 6:15 in the PV Cafeteria. This is not a presentation so parents can come through anytime between 6:15-7:00 or throughout the evening and learn more about the dangers of vaping and other substances. We hosted this at last year's Back to School Night and it was very well received.

We will send communication on more specifics for Back to School Night next week.

PV CLASS MEETINGS

We concluded our class meetings this week with each grade level. We covered a variety of topics including setting goals, expectations in the building and around town, the new schedule, and many other items pertaining to life at PV. The picture below was discussed with students and also shared with them through email as a way to focus on some possible goals this year here at PV. I encourage you to continue the discussion with your child at home.

PICTURE DAY REMINDER

School photos for Grades 6-8 will take place on September 17th and 18th in all Physical Education/Health classes. As a reminder, these pictures will be used for the yearbook and for student photo identification cards.

Please note that the school doesn't provide a form. Lifetouch should have emailed parents providing picture information.

SMARTPASS SYSTEM

PV will be using a new electronic hall pass system this year. Our students were trained on how to use it during class meetings this week by our Chief Technology Office, Mr. Shea. When utilizing the bathroom, water fountain, or visiting the nurse, students will create a pass on their Chromebook and proceed to the location. Upon returning to the class room, students will end the pass. This system will assist with the safety and security of the building while reinforcing the importance of being present in class.

HSA TEACHER APPRECIATION BREAKFAST

6TH GRADE FUN NIGHT AND CHAPERONES

The first social event of the year is the 6th Grade Night. All 6th graders are invited and there is no charge. Permission slips will be given out in school next week. This will take place at PV on Friday, September 20th from 5:00-6:30.

JERSEY MIKE'S DINE OUT

The first HSA dine out event of the year is set for October 23rd at Jersey Mike’s in Lincoln Park from 5:00-9:00. Rumor has it that Dr. Portas, Ms. Ringen, and Mr. Seborowski might be making sandwiches that night.

PV STUDENT FALL NIGHT OUT

PV is hosting a fall night out for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students on Friday, October 4th from 6:30-9:00 at PV. The cost is $10. There will be carnival games and other activities for students. Pizza and other snacks will be available to purchase. More information to follow.
