KSB staff would like to take a moment to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who helps make the Kentucky School for the Blind an amazing place to be. We are grateful to our parents who are such a critical part of all we hope to accomplish, and we thank you for doing what is the most rewarding and joyous job of all. Thank you for entrusting us with your most precious gift because we are so grateful for our students. In the spirit of this holiday season, it is our wish that each of you receives and returns the blessings and good tidings that make these days truly special, and our children best express the holiday's true meaning.

Winter vacation is here and KSB has some easy tips for keeping kids active and entertained throughout the week!
1. Get out and about! It's difficult to go outside when the weather is cold but staying inside can make restless children. Quick trips to your town library, museums, or parks (if you are up for it) can make a big difference.
2. Take advantage of free opportunities. While you're at the library, check out what passes they offer to local attractions. Many libraries will offer discounts or even free passes to nearby museums, zoos, or aquariums.
3. Coordinate with other parents. Parents who work outside of the home can work together to organize play. dates and outings to minimize the time they need to be out of the office.
4. Plan ahead. Something as easy as setting up your children's art supplies can become a fun craft day for the kids. It is more fun for all of you when you do some drawing with them!
5. Create an incentive. Plan something special for the end of the week like a family game night or a favorite dinner. Having something to look forward to can help children on days when things are slow.

Then we were able to enjoy the beautiful weather outside with a campfire and smores for the students and talked about adventures for the upcoming week. It was a beautiful and comfortable evening to be outside, especially for the month of December.
Monday, we had movie time in the rec. Gym to get ready for the upcoming holidays as the students watched A Muppet Christmas and others played in the gym while some worked on their ceramic pieces. Lots of stuff is going to get prepared for the upcoming Christmas season.
Tuesday the high school dorm students finished watching the movie that they started on Monday. The students then had an open gym. The elementary students took advantage of the weather an played outside on the playground and rode their bikes outside enjoying the nice weather.
