Summer seemed to fly by this year, but our staff at Bucyrus Elementary could not be more excited to welcome our families and students back for our BESt year yet!

Teacher Assignment postcards were mailed out beginning on August 5 to addresses in FinalForms. If you did not receive your postcard yet, please give the USPS a few days to deliver them all.

Tables will be also set up at Open House with class lists available for families to find out teachers that way as well.

Final Forms MUST be completed in order to for emergency medical forms and media release permission to be up to date. Students cannot be photographed for the yearbook without signed release of publication. In addition, Rocky, our school therapy dog, cannot visit classrooms until ALL final forms have been completed. Thank you for updating these forms at your earliest convenience.

Last year BCS rolled out a new communication tool called Rooms with our families. This year, this app will be the only communication app used across the district. Thank you for your patience as we all get used to this new comprehensive tool. Rooms has features very similar to Class DOJO or Remind in addition to connecting you to district and school specific information, uploads, and announcements. The typical information we would usually post on our school Facebook page will now be posted in the Bucyrus City Schools app.

To start the year, please make sure you have downloaded the Bucyrus City Schools app. Marketing information from Apptegy will be sent to your email and through text message. In addition Guardian invites for the new school year will be sent on August 19 prior to Open House. Please accept these invites as we get ready for an amazing year with ongoing communication between our families and teachers. We will have help available at Open House to help you connect if needed.

Our main goal is students get to and from school safely. THANK YOU for your patience and cooperation in ensuring this.

*Doors open at 8:25am with the tardy bell ringing at 8:40am. Please do not drop off students before this time as we do not have staff to monitor them. The playground is not open during this time for student safety.

*Dismissal begins at 3:15 for Pre-K, 3:20 for KG and 1st, and 3:25pm for grades 2-5.

*Any students that arrives late or leaves early will need to be checked in/out through the main office. As a reminder, any student leaving early needs to be picked up by an approved pick up person (in FinalForms) that is 18 or older with a valid ID.

*Grade level colored pick-up cards will be required for the first quarter of school until school staff can learn all allowable adults during dismissal time. These cards can be picked up from the classroom teacher during Open House or the main office.

Students may not have cell phones or smart watches out or turned on during the school day or on the bus. All cell phones and smart watches need to remain in student lockers or bookbags during school.

Any transportation changes or incidents in which you need to get ahold of your child during the school day need to be communicated by calling our main office.

Student lunch prices for the 2024-2025 school year are as follows:

• Elementary Full Price Lunch $3.50
• Student Extra Entree $2.25
• Reduced Price Lunch $0.00
• Milk Price $0.50
• Student Breakfast- FREE for all students

BCSD has a new charge policy for the 24-25 school year. Please be sure to review it.

Complete a free/reduced form for your family ASAP. These forms will be available at Open House. Only one form is needed per family.

If you haven't liked PTO's Facebook page, be sure to do so for all of the latest updates. Their page is titled: Bucyrus Elementary School PTO. Meetings are held the first Wednesday of the month at 4:30pm in the Bucyrus Elementary cafeteria. Anyone is welcome to attend and they're always looking for volunteers for even just one event.

BES had amazing screening days for Pre-K and KG this August (and last May for Pre-K)! We are extremely excited to welcome all of our littlest learners to BES!

Incoming Kindergarteners also had a great time ending their screening with their very own academic signing of a Kindergarten Promise to always remember to work hard, have fun, learn, and be kind.
