Hello Week
For the 7th consecutive year, our school will celebrate Sandy Hook’s Hello Week. This will be the week of September 16 - 20. Hello Week is a national campaign celebrating kindness, connection, inclusion, empathy, and belonging. Social isolation is a growing epidemic in the United States and within schools. Hello Week teaches students skills they need to reach out and include others; creating a culture of connectedness within our school. Students will be given a HELLO WEEK challenge over the morning announcements and have discussions about the challenge with their teachers during the day. Please see the Hello Week themed days below!
Meet and Greet MONDAY - Wear blue and smile and say hello to new and old friends.
Upstander TUESDAY - Wear tie-dye and remember the importance of being an Upstander.
Positivity and Inclusivity WEDNESDAY - Wear green to show positivity and inclusion.
Trusted Adult THURSDAY -Wear a shirt with a positive message and remember who your trusted adults are.
Moving Forward FRIDAY - Wear purple with pride to celebrate being a Polar Bear.

SmartSocial
The Jackson Local School District believes in partnering with parents and providing them with resources to help navigate the world of technology, games, and social media. While advances in technology have many great rewards, there is also the potential for harm. Since December, we have provided a resource and hope more parents and students, as appropriate by age, will take advantage of this.
We have partnered with SmartSocial.com for its on-demand courses for parents and students. The SmartSocial resources cover a wide range of digital and social media topics. We are providing a parent subscription package to these resources to help you learn how to navigate the negative (and positive) parts of social media with your students. You can sign up here: https://smartsocial.com/jacksonlocalschooldistrict
