Don't Miss Out on All the Fun!
(NEW) First Week of ILEARN is in the Books!
Our 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th Grade students completed their first week of the Indiana Department of Education's ILEARN Testing! Our students and staff did GREAT this week!
Next week, students will be testing Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, so please ensure for good attendance and a big breakfast for those days!
We got this, WES!
(NEW) Star Wars Day Next Friday!
Sadly, May the 4th is on a Saturday this year...but don't you worry because next Friday May 3rd is Star Wars Day at WES!
Next Friday is 'May the 4th Be With You', and we are going to celebrate Star Wars at WES!
We encourage all of our students (and staff) to celebrate in style by dressing up as their favorite Star Wars character! If you can't dress up, wear your favorite Star Wars shirt!
As a friendly reminder, no guns, lightsabers, or wookies will be allowed on campus that day!
(NEW) MIller's Merry Manor Parking
As a reminder to our parents with children who are car riders: Please be aware that WES does not encourage parents to park at Miller's Merry Manor for either drop off or pick up.
Beginning next week, Miller's will be repaving their blacktop and the parking lot will be closed!
Thank you for helping us remain great partners with our friends at Miller's!

(REMINDER) ATTENDANCE AT WES!
Over half of the school year is in the books, which means we are sledding down the hill quickly toward the end of the year.
As a reminder, attendance at school is CRITICAL to a child's academic and social success: Missing even two days a month can accumulate quickly to 20 days out of school.
If your child(ren) must miss school, please communicate those absences to Mrs. Harasewicz, and also your child's classroom teacher.

- Please form a DOUBLE LINE (BLACK LINE) as you enter at the far end of the parking lot: This process will be very similar to the double line at the McDonald's Drive Thru!
- The Double Line will end and merge into a single line (BLUE) all the way to the front of the building at Door #1.
- Please do not let your child(ren) exit your vehicle any sooner than the sidewalk (Green Arrow).

Construction at WES!
You may have heard that WES is going to have some construction happening this year, and that is indeed correct!
WES is looking to improve various areas of our building, starting with new heating and cooling systems in our classrooms! Construction will not happen before the first day of school, but will happen throughout the upcoming school year.
But don't worry! Classrooms will be moved around so that there will be no students or staff in classrooms where work is being done.
JGSC is finalizing the construction bidding process, and once that happens, I will be able to provide more details on (1) when construction will start and (2) what rooms will be affected during certain times.
More details coming soon!

Dr. Fuller's Thoughts!
The end of the school year is getting close.
Kids feel it....teachers feel it...parents feel it...
As teachers and students begin wrapping up an amazing 2023-2024 school year, I often remind myself to stay grounded in the moment and to not look too much toward next year, as there is a lot of planning that goes into preparing the next school year.
Oh the time we spend rolling around ideas in our heads, imagining the what-ifs, coming up with the PERFECT scenarios for how something will work.
The truth is, most answers reveal themselves through doing and not thinking.
We spend a lot of time trying to 'figure out' the prefect scenario, that we often overlook the plan right in front of us.
No matter how clueless you may feel in the moment, pay attention to the suggestions and opportunities brought to you by people you trust.
Don't reinvent the wheel...and start with one step at a time.
Sometimes when big events are on the horizon, we can get so lost and worried sick about the lead-up that we lose focus of our enjoyment in the moment.
Don't overthink...aim small miss small, right?
School is ending soon...let's close out this year STRONG and focus on the now!
