A Message from Mrs. Stauffer
Dear Rainbow Families,
From Spring Arts Fest to Field Day, we have an exciting and busy week at Rainbow this week!
Please join us on Tuesday May 14th at 6:00 PM for an evening of art, music and sweet treats to celebrate the work of our artists and musicians. We will also have our 2nd Annual STEM Once a Wildcat Wondered projects on display for you to view and then vote on the "Board I learned the most from." The All School Art Show will start at 6 p.m. followed by a chorus, band, and orchestra concert at 7:00 p.m. in the Large Group Room. Rita's will be selling delicious water ice and Rosie's will be selling popcorn. Guests will have the opportunity to view the artwork, have a sweet treat, and enjoy a performance by our musicians in the Large Group Room.
On Wednesday, May 15th, Rainbow will host our annual Field Day. This year our Field Day will have an Olympic theme! Parents are invited to come and join us outside on May 15th for this special day.
The Field Day stations will be from:
K-2 – 9:50-11:00
3-5 –11:00-12:10
Please know that Wednesday, May 15th is a 12:30 early dismissal for students. While there are scheduled Field Day stations outside, activities are planned for the entire school day. Activities include games and special treats. We encourage your student to remain in school to participate in all of the planned activities.
Parents/Guardians in Grades K-2, if you are joining us for Field Day and you plan on picking your child up from school, please email an early dismissal note to RBAttendance@casdschools.org or send in an early dismissal note with your student. You will sign your student out after their last Field Day event with your classroom teacher.
Parents/Guardians in Grades 3-5, if you are joining us for Field Day and plan on picking your 3-5 student up from school, you will meet them in the front of the school and sign them out with their classroom teacher. If you have a younger student to pick up, please join the parent pick up line.
This year we are having a FIELD DAY COLOR CONTEST between the grade levels. We would like the students to demonstrate their FIELD DAY SPIRIT by wearing as much of their grades’ color as possible. Each student has a possibility of scoring 5 points for their grade! One point for wearing sneakers or socks that match their color, 1 point for their shorts, 1 point for their Field Day shirt (provided by the PTO) and up to 2 points for any accessory (hat, sunglasses, nail polish, etc.)! We hope the students will have a fabulous time dressing in their color and showing their FIELD DAY SPIRIT. The winning grade will be announced during the afternoon announcements and receive an extra recess! A big THANK YOU to the PTO for providing the students with a Field Day t-shirt in their color!

Mobile Aglab Visited Rainbow!
Last week, the Mobile Agriculture Education Science Lab, a 40-foot mobile classroom that travels across the state of Pennsylvania bringing an interactive field trip style experience directly to schools and students in grades K-8, is visiting Rainbow. The Mobile Ag Lab is equipped with over 30 STEM-based science experiments and lessons, a certified teacher, and all the supplies needed for a hands-on learning experience. Each science experiment is designed to emphasize a different aspect of agriculture, including Pennsylvania’s commodities, the environment, biotechnology, food and fiber. While on our lab, students work cooperatively to solve a problem as they form a hypothesis, collect data and draw conclusions while focusing on the scientific method. Each lesson on the Mobile Ag Lab focuses on increasing student knowledge on the importance of agriculture and its impact on their daily lives.
Title I Parent Involvement
Attention all Rainbow Parents!
End of the Year: Input and Review Meeting
Thursday May 16, 6pm
During Rainbow PTO Meeting
Location: Science Room 100
Please plan to attend and participate in this important Title I parental involvement meeting as we review, revise and discuss required documents of Title I Parent Involvement.
Each year, Title I schools must involve parents in the review and revision process of the school parent policy, compact and survey. Parents also have the right to give input and suggestions on how one percent of the Title I parent involvement budget is spent.
This meeting will also review:
What does it mean to be a Title I school?
- Title I Program Parents Right to Know
- School-Parent Compact School Goals
- Parent Survey Volunteer Opportunities
Parents, we need your input! You do not want to miss this opportunity to help strengthen the Title I Parent Involvement program at your school!
Kindergarten End of Year Parade!
On the morning of June 4th, Kindergarten will be hosting an End-of-Year parade at 9:50 AM in the bus loop in front of Rainbow School. Parents of Kindergarteners are encouraged to park in the parking lot and stand on the sidewalk to watch the parade and wave to their children. Please be on time because this parade only takes a short time, and we don’t want you to miss it! More details will be sent home closer to the time. There will be no rain date. If there is rain, the parade will be cancelled.
After the parade, Kindergarten students will enter the school with their teachers to follow their typical daily schedules and routines. In the afternoon, there will be a short time for kindergarten classroom celebration activities. These activities will focus on students and their teachers celebrating their time spent learning and growing as a class together this year.
Classroom Teacher Requests
Each year, Rainbow faculty are responsible for assigning each student to a classroom for the following school year. A great deal of time, effort, and thought goes into the process of student placement. We strive to balance our classrooms academically and socially and provide equitable class sizes at each grade level.
At Rainbow, we have a skilled team of teachers who are ready to support our students. I am confident that your child(ren) will thrive in any of their classrooms as our teachers are adept with supporting students and their individual needs.
Please know that due to the size of our school, staffing movement, and the complexity of the class planning process, we do not accept requests for specific teachers. Thank you for your understanding. Together, we will make the 2024-2025 school year one of growth and achievement for all children.

Message from the School Nurse
Allergy season is upon us, and we just want to remind everyone to medicate children at home with allergy medication prior to coming to school.
The students do go outside for recess and gym. It is essential that children have their allergy medication before going outdoors, due to the high pollen count this time of year.
Please be sure that:
1. Students take their allergy medications daily at home. Non-drowsy
formulas are good choices because they will not leave your child tired and
dehydrated, or have them take them before bed if they cause drowsiness.
2. If your child requires over the counter eye drops to be given at school, parents can send a signed note along with the medication, in its original unopened package. All medication must be brought to the school by an adult. Please do not send medication in your child’s backpack.
3. If your child requires prescription medication, a physician’s note must accompany the medication, and have the original pharmacy package and name label attached. It must be brought to the school nurse by an adult.
Please contact the school nurse with any questions.
