NEWS FROM WERNER
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Halloween Parade and Parties- Our annual Halloween Parade will begin around 3:15 p.m. on Thursday, October 31. Parents are invited to view the parade outside classrooms on the playground. Parties will be held in each room before the parade sometime during the day. Room Parents and/or teachers will be communicating out to families on needs. Here is our Werner Guidance for Classroom Parties.
Guidance on Halloween Costumes- Halloween is a great opportunity for dressing up in costumes that are creative and fun. We ask that you help your students plan for costumes that are not scary (e.g. zombies, vampires, etc.) and that do not use pretend weapons of any kind. Guns, knives, nun-chucks, bows/arrows, etc. will not be permitted. Students are okay with wearing facemasks. Adults, please do not wear facemasks. Please be mindful to choose costumes that convey stereotypes or demean cultural groups. Please check the weather forecast before coming to school with their costume. The parade is outside, depending on the weather, and will last about 20 minutes. Thanks for your help and we look forward to seeing the creative costumes!
Veteran's Day Breakfast, Nov. 8- Please see the flyer below about a special opportunity to honor our veterans or active military.
Read-A-Thon- We are off to a great start with the Read-A-Thon and are looking to increase our goal so that we can get everything we are looking for on our wish list! Thanks for all your support and keep reading! Our Challenge for the long weekend is to increase our participation to at least 50%. If we reach that marker, the whole school will get extra recess!
Read-A-Thon Update
Hello Werner Families,
The end of October is nearing and that means our Read a Thon will be coming to an end on the 30th. This month has been incredible with our Wildcats keeping their promise of pledging to read every day in the month of October.
As of today, our Werner community has raised $28,711!! That makes it our most successful fundraiser in over 5 years without using a third party booster. To say our Wildcats have exceeded the fundraising goal is an understatement. Every dollar earned is going back to Werner and will immensely help with not only classroom and specials budgets but also playground updates. That includes soccer goals AND a gaga pit!! School participation is currently at 45% with our goal still being 50%. If we are able to reach that 50% participation every Wildcat will receive extra recess! No donation is too small and every dollar counts.
You can still pledge by going to this site by Oct. 31: https://app.99pledges.com/fund/wernerelementary.
Thank you again to our wonderful families for supporting the students and encouraging the love of reading each and every day.
Sincerely,
Werner PTA
2024-2025 Werner Photo Album

This relates to school events only (e.g. classroom parties, field trips, school events, spirit days and enrichment opportunities). You can upload pictures to our 2024-2025 Werner Photo Album throughout the year. Please be mindful to not include photos of students that may not have permission.

Dear PSD families:
As part of the PSD community, you know that every single school in your district has something great to offer. Whether your family selected a school through the school choice program or enrolled at your neighborhood school, you made a choice.
To help other families make their choice, we have created the ‘Choose PSD’ webpage, which provides information about our 54 schools and incredible array of programs, including Core Knowledge, International Baccalaureate, STEM/STEAM, dual language immersion, expeditionary learning, project-based learning, Leader in Me, online and homeschool programs, and myriad career and college readiness options.
If you are enrolling a new student, applying for school choice, or referring a friend or family member to choose PSD in 2025-26, here are important dates to mark in your calendar (more information will be coming soon):

Poudre School District
Staff, Family, and Community Engagement Norms
Oct. 23, 2024
Dear PSD parents and guardians:
In an effort to foster a culture of mutual respect, effective communication, and quality customer service, PSD has created a set of norms for staff, family/guardian, and community engagement. These norms aim to set a positive tone for interactions between staff and parents and community members, whether they happen in person, over the phone, or in writing.
The norms will be posted in all PSD schools and include expectations that:
- Calls or emails that are not emergencies will be acknowledged within three school days.
- Appointments between the parties involved will be established as a norm for addressing concerns or discussing important matters through direct communication.
- Appointments will take place as soon as reasonably possible. Adequate time is needed for preparation and research before an appointment.
- Communication will focus on collaboration and understanding – respectful language and non-confrontational behavior from all parties are expected.
- Boundaries between personal and professional life will be maintained, and sensitive matters will not be addressed in community settings.
If you experience an emergency or need to report an immediate safety or criminal issue, please contact 911. You can also visit See Something, Say Something to learn about reporting a tip through Safe2Tell, learn about reporting sexual harassment, or report harassment or other incidents of concern through the incident report system.
It’s important for everyone in our schools and in our communities to feel welcome and engage in mutual respect to best serve students. Thank you for taking the time to read this message.
Sincerely,
PSD Assistant Superintendents
Volunteers are needed across Poudre School District to support our Teachers & Students!
PSD sends frequent emails to currently registered volunteers, but those are getting lost in some recipients' junk mail folders. If you are registered as a volunteer with PSD, please check your junk mail & mark those sent by "Volunteer Coordinator" as safe to receive.
For those who are not yet registered to volunteer but want to help in our schools please visit - Volunteer Registration
PSD Now Newsletter
One of many ways information is shared is through the PSD Now community newsletter, which features timely information about the latest happenings in the district. This is emailed to families and interested community members about every other Thursday.
