Broadwater Bulletin
March 9, 2025
From the Principal
Hello Broadwater Families,
We hit another Read-a-Thon milestone of $15,000 which is absolutely incredible! On Friday, I wore a UM sweatshirt, which the students loved (I am a 3rd generation Bobcat)! Thank you for your support and partnership.
We also received 2 HEF grants! Ms. Skogley wrote one to bring Cohesion Dance Company into our school to teach dance and movement to all our students. Congratulations! The other grant was spearheaded by our PTC and in collaboration with Capital High School will make new furniture for our habitat, creating a better learning space for all students. Good work PTC! And thank you to the generous sponsors and HEF.
This week we have lots of events:
- PTC on Monday
- Family Folk Dance at Central on Tuesday
- 5th grade ski day on Wednesday
It is an A Week.
And as always, it is always a great day to be a Cub!
Ms. Boedecker
THANK YOU to all the families who participated in the Read-a-Thon! Broadwater students have been busy reading these past two weeks and we have raised over $16,000 (and counting)!
The money raised directly supports our students and teachers with supplies, field trip support, art education, special projects and more!
Please bring all paperwork to school on Monday, March 10. The last day to bring money or reading logs is Friday, March 17. Prizes will be distributed the week of March 24.
We appreciate you!

KinderSprouts
KinderSprouts is a free, full day (Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.) early literacy program for 4-year-old students. It is a fun, hands-on program for our littlest learners. The program is designed around caring relationships, hands-on activities and interactive play to help children develop the learning skills they need for a solid start to Kindergarten and beyond.
Screening for the program will begin on February 24, 2025. If you feel your child would benefit from early literacy support use this web address: https://helenaschools.org/kindersprouts2025/ to schedule an appointment.
Family Folk Dance Night
A quick reminder that the Family Folk Dance Night for Broadwater & Central 4th/5th grade families is coming up on March 11th. We'll be kicking up our feet from 4:30-5:45 in the Central gym, with music provided by the fantastic Mr. Casey.
Don't know any folk dances? That's all right! You'll be able to learn them right along with us as we go. And the kids are expert leaders at folk dancing, so you'll pick it up quickly.
Can't come for the whole event? That's all right, too! We'd love to see you for however long you can be there.
Please remember, students must attend with a grownup for the entire event. Older and younger sibling are more than welcome to attend and dance with us as well!
Please keep all toys, trading cards, and sports equipment at home.
