East Rockford Middle School will hold our Tri 2 Parent Teacher Conference meetings on Feb. 5th and 6th from 3:30-6:30. Like in the Fall, there will be 2 formats, an in-person session and a virtual session. The in-person session will be Wednesday, Feb. 5th and the virtual session will be held on the 6th. Below are the links that will take you to the school interviews page. There, you will be able to select teachers and sign up for time slots. You will be able to sign up for a time slot starting Tuesday, January 28.

We hope you have the time to connect with your students’ teachers either for the in-person session on the 5th, or the virtual session on the 6th.

SCHEDULING

Counselors will be speaking with students entering 7th and 8th grades next school year to talk about making elective requests. Make sure to talk to your student about their plans for requests and for getting their forms turned in by the deadlines.

2025/2026 7th grader lessons will be the week of January 29, with forms due on February 6 to the counseling office.

7th grade electives 25/26

2025/2026 8th grader lessons will be in science classes on February 6, with forms due on February 13 to the counseling office.

8th grade electives 25/26

2025/2026 8th grader lessons will be March 21 and the counselors from the Rockford Freshman Center will be coming to work with those students.

*Any students that are absent the day their class get the elective request forms, may pick one up from the counseling office.

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to ERMS Library January 31-February 7th. Students will visit during their ELA class and we will be open during Parent-Teacher Conferences on February 5th, so please stop by to shop. If you’d like, you can also set up an e-wallet for your student instead of sending cash. Scholastic Book Fair eWallet: A Safe, Cashless Way to Shop.

Students will be able to preorder Sunrise on the Reaping, the latest installment in The Hunger Games series. The book will ship to our school when it is released on March 18th.

Policy for picking up your student DURING the school day:

Please have your student come to the main office to pick up their pass when they arrive at school in the morning. A note stating the time they need to leave is helpful in case they forget the time they are leaving. This policy is to discourage calling into classrooms and interrupting teacher instruction. When you arrive to pick up your student please wait in the vestibule for them and sign them out on our sign out sheet.

If your student is sick or unable to attend school for the whole day please leave a message on our attendance line 616-863-6559 stating the reason for the absence. Please spell your students first and last name.
