The fifth and sixth grade classes enjoyed presenters from the Great Burn Conservation Alliance. They played games and heard presentations about invasive species, leave no trace camping, and other topics.
In April, 127 students received a dental exam at school through the Sealants for Smiles Program. Students received a dental report card to take home and new oral care supplies. The US Department of Health reports that 51 million hours of school are missed each year in the US because of dental problems.
How can you prevent dental problems in kids: -Avoid sugary treats and beverages as much as possible -Drink plenty of water -Make sure your kids brush at least twice a day and floss regularly -Schedule dental check-ups to catch problems and treat any tooth decay early on
Often we have people asking if they can donate to or help the school in any way. Donorschoose.org is a website where teachers can create a project that they need help funding for their classroom. We have multiple teachers here in Superior that use this site and it is a great way to help teachers with things that they need for their classrooms. This week is Teacher Appreciation Week and the site will often have companies who will match or even double match any donations made during this week! After accessing the site you are able to search by zip code to see all of the projects that Superior teachers have going right now!
