Hello Hidden River Families,

I hope you had an amazing summer! A huge thank you to all who attended the back-to-school event last Thursday! Just a reminder to those who were not in attendance, we are at a new location for the 24-25 school year: 631 Albert St. N. Parent drop off is on Blair St. and buses are unloading on Albert St. Bike racks are located on the Albert St. side of the building. All students will enter the building through door 1. A reminder that we are in a residential neighborhood, and I ask that you take care to not block driveways and sidewalks of our neighbors.

We recognize that a new location is a big change for all our students and we will spend the first week orienting all students to the building and expectations. Please review the first days of school schedule below with your student.

September 3rd:

• AM – students in foundations class & Lunch
• PM – students will rotate through their “A” day classes and end the day in Foundations

September 4th:

• AM – students in foundations class & Lunch
• PM – students will rotate through their “B” day classes and end the day in Foundations

September 5th: Students will experience a regular “A” day

September 6th: Students will experience a regular “B” day

Please be patient with buses the first few weeks of school. The Saint Paul Public Schools Bus Status app is now available for free download at the Apple App Store and via Google Play. Additional bussing information can be found at 651-696-9600. At arrival, all buses drop off on Albert St and all students enter Door 1. At dismissal, we have 2 bus zones it is important for student to walk out the correct door and find their bus promptly. Talk with your student what bus they ride and how they will be getting to and from school. See map below.

The Bus Status app reports buses greater than 10 minutes late and displays up-to-date bus information for SPPS families and students.

Notice: Bus Status has a new and improved app just in time for the new school year! The Bus Status app currently installed on your phone will not update automatically to the new app, and will end notifications after September 29. Download the new Bus Status app for free at the Apple App Store and via Google Play.

All families should park along Blair Ave on the side closest to school. At drop-off students walk up to door 1. At dismissal student will exit through door 3 right to Blair Ave.

Students will arrive at school grab breakfast-to-go in the cafeteria then go to their Foundations class. Students can see who their Foundations teacher is by looking at their schedule on Campus. If your student doesn't know their Foundations teacher, staff will be in the hallway to support students. Foundations Tuesday and Wednesday will be from 8:30-Noon with lunch during Foundations. Foundations teachers will give students their schedules if they do not have them. Then students will go to their A Day classes, periods 1-7, on a modified schedule (image to left) and end again in their Foundations before being dismissed for the day.

Dear Parents/Guardians,

As an IB school we have been reflecting on how we can continue to improve our practices to support student learning, alongside this letter you will find the Hidden River Middle School’s personal electronics commitment for the 24-25 school year.

We are working to be clear and consistent as we work with students and the possession and use of personal electronic devices. Students are expected to put ALL personal electronic devices in their backpack upon entering campus. All backpacks and personal materials will be stored in the student’s locker.

Please take some time to read through the commitment next to this letter. If a student is seen with a personal electronic device (i.e. cell phone, smart watch, headphones, tablet, etc.) on their body or within their belongings (outside of the backpack/locker), the student will be asked to give the device to the staff person and it will be turned over to the assistant principals and/or principal.

Parents/guardians will always be able to come and pick up the device from the assistant principals or principal, should it get taken from the student.

Any time a parent/guardian is in need of contacting their child between the hours of 8:30AM-3:00PM, please call the office number, 651-293-8860. If it is an emergency, a parent/guardian will be connected to their child. If it is not an emergency, a message will be delivered to your child.
