Argyle Education Foundation (AEF)
Grant WINNERS
Patience Knotts
Thanks to funding from the Argyle Education and CoServ Charitable Foundations, Argyle South's 5th graders will tee off on a creative adventure! Ms. Knotts, our STEM teacher at ASE, will equip students with the tools to design and build thematic mini-golf courses. The final products will be showcased at STEM Night on March 5, 2025 for our whole school and community to enjoy.
Antoinette Cavazos, Mikah Kyle, & Katie Sabala
Collaboratively, these three wrote a grant for Generation Genius...an online resource full of videos to help with Science and Math topics. EVERY ASE TEACHER AND STUDENT will have access to the site for one year!
Neal Karpienski
The grant that ASE music received is going toward instrument carts that will give all grade levels access to our bigger xylophones and metallophones. We create musical pieces using all of our Orff instruments, and this cart will allow students to increase their skills on different instruments.

Argyle South Elementary - 5th Grade Girls
Dear Parent/Guardian,
The clinic will be conducting Spinal Screenings November 1- 22, 2024 , on all Fifth Grade Girls. The
purpose of the spinal screening is to detect the signs of abnormal curves of the spine at its earliest stage. Catching a spinal problem early can make the treatment much easier. Not treating spinal problems can lead to serious health problems.
This screening is in compliance with Health and Safety Code, Chapter 37, all children shall undergo screenings for abnormal spinal curvature in accordance with the following schedule:
β Girls will be screened two times, once at age 10 (or fall semester of grade 5) and again at the
age of 12 (or fall semester of grade 7).
β Boys will be screened one time at age 13 or 14 (or fall semester of grade 8).
The procedure for screening is simple. I have been trained and will look at your childβs back while she stands and then bends forward. Girls will be assessed separately with the presence of a staff member.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
β Students will need to move their shirts around their neck for this exam.
β Girls will need to wear a sports bra, bra, or two piece swimsuit top underneath their shirt
on exam day.
β Girls are screened with another staff member present
The parent will be notified if your student does not pass the screening; this screening procedure does not replace your childβs need for regular health care and check-ups.
You may choose to have this exam completed by your medical provider. It must meet the above age
criteria and be submitted to the Nursing Clinic at school for your child to be excluded from the school screening.
If you do not wish to have your child screened for religious reasons, you must submit an exemption form to the school nurse no later than November 1, 2024.
Spinal Screening will be on: November 1- 22, 2024 during their Physical Education period.
Thank you,
Kristina Wildeveld RN
