JHU is offering 3 different options this year: Exploring Engineering, Biomedical Engineering Innovation, and Sustainability Energy Engineering. Classes are held over the summer at either Hood College, Johns Hopkins University, or virtually. This is an amazing opportunity for students to earn 3 JHU credits and one high school CTE elective credit. Students will have the opportunity to learn, think, and problem solve like an engineer while applying the math and science concepts they have learned in high school.
This program is for Rising 11th and 12th graders. Prerequisites include: Algebra II, some Trigonometry, and a lab science.
Open Campus Class at FCC
Attention students who plan to take an OPEN CAMPUS class at FCC in the summer or fall: Registration on the FCC website (www.frederick.edu) is NOW OPEN!
The student is responsible for registering themselves for an open campus FCC class (this would mean either online or in person—on the FCC Campus). The students then needs to give to their counselor the following:
- A copy of their FCC schedule, showing registration for the classes
- A completed dual enrollment participation form
The UHS counseling office registers students for high school based FCC classes.
Please direct any questions to Mrs. Holt in the counseling office!
Attention Students who will take Open Campus FCC Classes this Fall!
FCPS recently announced some important changes to the Open Campus program.
You must have approval from your school and be enrolled in any Fall courses at FCC by August 1. After August 1, you will not be able to enroll in Open Campus courses at FCC and will have to wait for Spring semester to participate.
FCPS will only pay for up to two (2) Open Campus courses per year for 11th graders and up to four (4) Open Campus courses per year for 12th graders, beginning this school year. If approved by your school, you may take additional courses, but you will be responsible for the tuition and fees for those courses. (Note: Income-eligible students may have tuition, fees, and textbooks waived for additional approved classes.)
Please review this Dual Enrollment FAQ for more details. See your school counselor for questions about your schedule and eligibility.
