The Fowler Weekly
March 4-8, 2024
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Fowler Fam,
We are gearing up for both forecasting and our 8th grade career day. We will be looking for chaperones to attend the career event. We roughly estimate that the time commitment will be 10:00am-2:00pm on April 19th. We are hoping to secure about 16 parent chaperones for the bus ride and tour. We would be happy to include a boxed lunch to sweeten the deal. ;-)
Because our volunteer approval process takes about 2 weeks, I wanted to start promoting this opportunity in case it is of interest to you. Here is a link to the volunteer process. The visit will include a lunch stop and a tour of a local business such as Pride Disposal, Oregon Primate Center, Broadway Rose, The Tigard City Offices, NIke, and a Local Plumbing training facility. We are still finalizing our sites right now and should have all locations confirmed before spring break. We will add a field trip sign up link in a future communication.
Have a great week!
Andy
HAPPENINGS
We are still celebrating our Falcons! Join us!
Fowler Fist Bumps were handed out this week in our Grade Level Assembles during Morning Meeting. Fist Bumps are used to recognize our students for their awesomeness! Our school guiding principles are “Being Safe, Respectful and Responsible”. Students who demonstrate these principles are recognized. Here are the students acknowledged this week:
Reminder: The last day for the Winter After School Activities was last Thursday, February 29. Homework Help WILL continue through March 14. After School Buses will continue to be available.
IMPORTANT: PARENTS/FAMILIES OF STUDENTS WHO RIDE BUS 3 OR 4: Tomorrow Bus Routes change. Click here for all of the details.
There are two documents available on ParentVue:
Semester 1/Quarter 2 Report Cards are available. We do not mail report cards home. Please sign into either ParentVue or StudentVue. You may access them under the “Documents” tab. It will be the document at the top and will be labeled Quarter 2 Report Card (23-24).
22-23 OSAS Student Test Reports are also now available. OSAS individual student test reports will no longer be mailed home to families. If you would like to view your student's report from last year's assessments they are now available under the Documents tab in ParentVue.
If you need assistance, or a hard copy, please contact Teresa Weitz, tweitz@ttsd.k12.or.us.
6th GRADE PARENTS - OUTDOOR SCHOOL INFORMATION
We are just over a week out until our 6th graders head off to Outdoor School. Here are the important pieces of information to be aware of:
On Tuesday, March 12, students who are attending Week 1 will need to be dropped off at school between 8:30-8:45am. Please do not drop off students early, as our buses will be arriving with our remaining 6th, 7th and 8th grade students. We encourage carpooling, if possible.
Students may NOT ride buses to school that day due to the bulkiness of their gear.
Here is a link to the Packing List in case you have misplaced it. Remember, there is no need to go purchase items for Outdoor School. If your student is in need of warm clothing or a sleeping bag, please contact our Family Partnership Advocate, Victor Romo, at (503)431-5054 or vromo@ttsd.k12.or.us. .
The following items are NOT allowed: candy, gum, food, electronics and money.
Please plan on picking your student up on Friday, March 15 around 1:15-1:30pm. We will text updates if they are running later than expected.
There will be more specific information coming out this week via email and flyers home.
For families who have had students go before, they no longer have a system in place for you to send your student mail or care packages. Here is their recommendation:
Because our locations are privately owned, we are not able to manage mail delivered by any type of carrier. If you would like to send letters to your child, we recommend sending letters with your student when they attend outdoor school. Often times parents will mark it as "Read Later" or "Read on Day 2."
Do not send care packages, food or candy. Please be cautious of your word choice in your letters. Sharing your feelings of sadness in their absence can spur homesickness in your child. Instead, focus on how much you are looking forward to hearing about their week when they get home.
