Message from Principal Hakala
Greetings, Blue Jay Families!
It's hard to believe we are closing in on the end of the school year! Unfortunately, last month was marred by the very sad break-in. We are still working on tracking down those responsible. We are so thankful for all the good wishes and outreach from our community. Please know that while it is hard to defend against senseless acts of vandalism like this, we do work hard to make sure our school is safe every day when your precious children are in our care. We do this by keeping all exterior doors and gates locked during the school day, closely monitoring anyone allowed to be on the school grounds, and keeping strict lists about who is allowed, or not allowed, to pick up your children. If you have any questions about school safety, or thoughts about how we can help (did you know we even have gun safes available??), please give us a call any time.
It's always bittersweet as we get into this last week of school, when we have to send off another group of fifth-graders to their next adventure. We're excited for what the future holds for them! We're also so pleased to look back on all the progress that our younger students have made, and ready to meet a new bunch of kinders, many with siblings already at school.
Next year is going to be even better, and in the meantime, we hope everyone has a wonderful, safe summer of fun!
Don Hakala, Principal

June 21: Last Day for School Office to be Open
Summer at Centennial
The office will be open through June 21. After that, we will not be reachable until mid-August. Also, the school is getting a much-needed new roof and accompanying AC units! Unfortunately, this means that playground will likely be closed during this construction for safety. The office and grounds will be open again in mid-August. We will post class lists the last week in August. Watch your mail/email for a letter from Mr. Hakala with more information!
The first day of school for most students will be the Wednesday after Labor Day, Sept. 4. There will be a watermelon social that Tuesday where students grades 1-5 can meet their new teachers and classmates.
We do things a little different for kinders to try to ensure cohesive and harmonious classrooms. Half the new kinders (last names A-L) will start that Wednesday, the other half will start on Thursday. All students will mingle and meet all the teachers and get a taste of what school will look like. Then on that Friday, kinders only will have the day off while teachers put together the classrooms. We will post the class lists at 4 that day, and then on Monday, all students will come back!
School Supplies for Next Year
You can find school supplies for each grade level here. If you need help with supplies, please let us know!
Calling All Incoming Kinders!
We KNOW there are more kinders out there who need to register! If you know someone with a little who will turn 5 by Sept 1, please encourage them to call us!
Annual Review
Every year, families are asked to update the information we have on file in ParentVue using the Annual Review process. Thank you to all the families who have participated this year. Please, do, take a moment to fill out this questionnairel We do NOT need all the paperwork again, except the district would like to see proof of address each year.
ParentVue Instructions
On a phone, once you log in (using the web or app), tap on the profile icon in the upper right and select Online Registration, then the 24-25 Annual Review packet. Update your own info first, then choose Edit to update your current students, then Add Student to add an incoming kinder. Please call us with any questions!Next Year's Calendar
Be sure to download the the 24-25 academic calendar. Please note that the week of Thanksgiving is now a full week off. However, we do still plan to hold parent conferences this week, so please think hard about going out of town. The only conferences we hold are after the first trimester. However, please know that we encourage you to stay in close contact with your child's teacher and it will always be possible to schedule meetings as needed throughout the school year.
Check the Lost & Found!
Please ask your kids to check the Lost & Found or stop by to have a look! It's getting full! We will have items out in the center strip this week. On Friday, all will be up for grabs, and anything left will be donated to Bags of Love and Genesis Church Clothing Closet.

Our Amazing PTO
How to support our school:
- You can always get blue bags from the school office. This is an easy way to support the PTO through donations of bottles and cans. Just bring the bag to the Springfield Bottle Drop Redemption Center, scan the PTO bar code, and toss your bag.
- Watch for upcoming fundraisers, and in the meantime, volunteer!
