Students in 1st - 5th grade bring home progress reports in their Friday Folders today. Progress Reports show a snapshot of how the student is performing so far in the semester. The grades on the progress report are not final! Teachers will further discuss your student's progress during the parent/teacher conference. Please review your student's progress report, sign it, and return to school.

Kindergarten teachers will review progress reports with parents during parent/teacher conferences.

If you have not already done so, please sign up for a conference via Zoom with your child's teacher. Your child's teacher is eager to share with you about the progress your child is making so far this school year. Please sign up for a conference time at the Brookwood Elementary Conference Sign Up website.

On October 20th, GCPS will have a digital learning day for ALL students. We are grateful for the opportunity to have this day to allow teachers to plan future lessons for students as well as hold parent/teacher conferences.

On this Digital Learning Day:

• Students can find all their lessons and assignments on eCLASS, but there will be no live instruction. Please view the video below for directions on how to get to your teacher's eCLASS page.

• All students will complete their special area class digitally. More information is on the Brookwood ES homepage.

Brookwoood Elementary will be collecting nonperishable foods during the week of October 18th - 21st. All food collected will go to local food banks and individuals and families in need. For more information, click on the picture below to view the flyer.

Take a moment on Monday, October 18th to say a big THANK YOU to your school bus driver! We are so thankful for their commitment to safely transporting our students to and from school each day.

Dear 4th and 5th Grade Students and Parents,

On Wednesday, October 27th, 2021, the BES Witzzle Pro™ math club will kick off its 2021-2022 season. The club is open to 4th and 5th graders who are up for some fun with numbers. Witzzle Pro is a witty puzzle containing a 3-by-3 array of digits. The game challenges you to manipulate the digits to form a target number. You won’t believe how much fun it is to use math facts, operations, and problem-solving strategies to play this fast-paced game.

Witzzle Pro meets every Wednesday morning from 7:45 until 8:20 AM. In the past, we have had a tournament with the other elementary schools in the cluster. We are still working on a plan for the cluster tournament. We have built a strong legacy in the world of Witzzle Pro. Let’s keep it going!

Students, if you wish to participate, please have a parent complete the Google Form using the link below. All students who plan to participate in Witzzle Pro, must know their multiplication and division facts with fluency. That means you can recall them quickly. There are no membership fees. Just bring a positive attitude and your brain! T-shirts will be available to order in the spring.

We are excited to begin another year of Witzzle Pro. Don’t know how to play? We’ll learn together during the first couple of practices. It’s where math and fun get together. Please join us ready and excited to play!

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to Brookwood Elementary from October 12th - 22nd. Students will shop the fair with their class during preview and purchase days.

Starting today Wednesday, October 6th, the Scholastic Virtual Book Fair is open for online purchases. Purchases made online will ship right to your home, and orders over $25 ship for free.

Preparations are underway for the 2021 Brookwood Elementary School Spelling Bee. Classroom Spelling Bees will take place in 4th and 5th grade classrooms between October 18th - 29th.

You can begin helping your student prepare now using the School Spelling Bee Study List.

Brookwood Elementary will have a $2 Costume/Dress-up Day on Friday, October 29th to raise funds for United Way!

Come to school in your favorite costume and bring your $2 (two dollar) donation to join the fun.

No full-face masks or loose toy swords/weapons will be permitted.

Time (and space) is running out to purchase a 5th Grade Ad in the 2021 - 2022 Brookwood Elementary School yearbook! Don't miss out on the opportunity to commemorate your 5th grader's important milestone of the completing of elementary school.

Create and purchase your 5th grade ad between now and November 1st at the the Jostens website! This year we have two ad sizes to choose from: 1/4 Page - $30 and 1/8 Page - $20.

Did you know that Brookwood ES has a Health Response Team (HRT) which manages and communicates COVID related information with staff, students and parents? The HRT gathers information, conducts contact investigations and communicates as needed. In the next few months, it is important that you continue to alert the school if your child develops symptoms or tests positive for the virus.

Common symptoms include:

Fever (100.4 or higher), Cough, Shortness of breath, muscle/body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, congestion/runny nose, nausea/vomiting, sore throat, fatigue

Cancer has touched many of the staff of Brookwood Elementary School in some way. To help fight back, Brookwood Elementary has committed to raise funds and participate in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life event. The Brookwood Elementary Relay for Life team has set the goal to raise $10,000 for Relay for Life this year! You can help us meet our goal in a few ways:
