Who's New at Cherry Park for Next Year? (Part 1)
This is the time of year when we work to fill vacancies for next year. Here are some new hires for our staff. 1. Emma Grow--Ms. Grow will be our new first grade English Language Arts teacher for our French team. She has taught first grade for three years in Lancaster, SC and has been the grade chair for her team this year. She brings a wealth of knowledge about best practices in literacy for young children and has already been through the LETRS (Learning Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling) Training that all K-3rd language arts teachers will go through next year. She graduated from Winthrop University and we are so excited for her to be with us. 2. Michelle Preston--Ms. Preston is currently one of our fourth grade English Language Arts teachers and she will be our new Reading Coach next year. (Ms. Meriam Polanco will shift from being our World Language Coach to be a new ESOL teacher at Ebinport next year. Ms. Karen Finley will move from Reading Coach to World Language Coach at Cherry Park. I hope you are following all this.) Ms. Preston is a veteran teacher who has worked in Rock Hill Schools for twenty years and brings a wealth of knowledge about literacy. We are so glad she is stepping into the position of Reading Coach. 3. Ashby Huckabee--Ms. Huckabee grew up in Rock Hill and attended Clemson University. She will be a fourth grade English Language Arts teacher with us because of Ms. Preston's shift to Reading Coach. She will team with Mrs. Leon. Ms. Huckabee has been in Anderson County for the past two years at Powdersville Elementary. It is exciting to see one of our former Rock Hill students return back home to teach with us. Next week, I will introduce you to a few more of our new teachers. I hope you enjoy your time with your family this weekend as we observe Memorial Day and remember those military service members who died while serving in our Armed Forces.
Strength and Blessings,
Mr. Maness
