news for all K-12 families at Hillsboro Online Academy
A message from our Administrator
Dear HOA Families,
I hope this message finds you well and ready for an amazing Spring. I wanted to take a moment to share some updates and express my appreciation for your ongoing support.
Upcoming events and activities that you will be hearing more about in detail:
In our K-8 grades we have a Science Showcase night coming up in April that will be a fun night of learning and exploring for all, and will include some yummy food truck choices for dinner.
Our high school team is currently planning our HOA prom and Senior Showcase nights in May using the feedback and creativity of our juniors and seniors.
The Criminal Justice Pathway teacher is having a “Solve a Mystery” night that includes using fun and interactive detective kits!
MS and HS socials (with food/snacks) are continuing each month. Great time to practice those social skills in a small, safe setting.
We are continuing online and in-person clubs for all grade levels. Please see teacher’s newsletters or announcements in advisories for any new ones coming out this spring.
Your partnership with us is vital, and it plays a crucial role in your child's success. As we kick off the new semester, I encourage you to continue collaborating with our dedicated teachers. Your insights and feedback are invaluable, and together, we can ensure a fantastic learning experience for your child.
I am looking forward to the fun activities planned for the spring. These events are not only educational but also designed to bring our school community together. From virtual adventures to interactive sessions, there's something for everyone.
I feel privileged to be part of this community, and I am committed to working closely with you to make this semester a success. Thank you for entrusting us with your child's education.
Let's make Semester 2 a time of growth, learning, and enjoyment!
Warm regards,
Shannon Freudenthal
HOA K-12 Administrator

Student Science & Showcase Night
Great things are happening at HOA! On April 10th, from 6pm – 7pm we will have a family night to share our students’ work. We cannot wait to share some of this great work at our Annual Science & Showcase Night. All students are expected to have something to display. Ask your child or reach out to their teacher if you have any questions.
Since the weather has turned, we would like to let you know that Wonderful Wednesday families can start using the drop-off/pick-up line! However, we still enjoy chatting with families before and after, so parking and walking up is still welcomed. It is our desire to avoid the typical issues that come with the standard elementary drop-off/pick-up line, so please remember to be patient, stay in line (no cutting), and if you choose to use the drop-off/pick-up line, stay in your vehicle. The drop-off/pick-up line follows the outside of the parent parking lot (highlighted in pink).

- 3/12 - Class of 2025 (current Juniors)

In-District Transfers for 2024-2025
All in-district transfers to HOA expire in June. If you plan on returning to HOA for the 2024-2025 school year, please submit a “Current Transfer Continuation Request” as soon as possible. If a transfer is not received, your neighborhood school plans on seeing your student in September. Please get in touch with them regarding re-enrollment and forecasting.
