Construct Tomorrow
Construct Tomorrow is an interactive career fair that features each of the construction trades including bricklayers, carpenters, cement mason, electricians, floor coverers, iron workers, laborers, pipefitters, finishing trades, sheet metal workers and more. The trade trainers provide hands-on experiences for students to learn about careers in the construction industry and union apprenticeship training programs.
Construct Tomorrow will be held on Tuesday, November 12th, 2024, in Mankato.

Construction Facts for South Central & Southwest Minnesota
- Education requirements in construction tend to be low because the industry follows a different model for training workers, not because the jobs are low skilled.
- Median wages for Construction Occupations in Southwest/South Central Minnesota are almost $6 higher per hour than all other industries in the region.
- An apprenticeship is an earn-as-you-learn training system where you gain skills during paid on-the-job instruction
- Formal apprenticeships are available in a range of construction occupations, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, cement masonry, drywall installation, painting, roofing and other occupations
Women in the Trades
A nontraditional career for women is one in which less than 25% of the workforce is female.
