Principal's Pick
Dear GRDC families,
Another great week at GRDC! I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the wonderful progress and achievements our students have made.
This week, I saw many moments of teamwork, learning, and growth both in and out of the classroom. It was great to watch our students take on academic assessments with focus, show positive character traits, and start exploring college and career options with excitement.
Here are some highlights from the past week:
Awards Assembly
We're thrilled to announce that we had our first awards assembly of the school year. We are dedicated to honoring the achievements of our students. As part of our ongoing commitment to create a positive and nurturing learning environment, we believe it is crucial to recognize and celebrate the character traits exhibited by our students.College and Career Week
This week, our school took part in College and Career Week, where students learned about different colleges and started thinking about their future paths. Our 6th-8th grade students began using the Naviance program, which explores options that will help guide them through high school and beyond. It was great to see them getting excited about their future goals.UC Davis AVID Trip
These moments and events serve as a testament to the incredible dedication of our students, teachers, and staff. It's through their hard work and commitment that we continue to create a positive learning environment.
As we head into the weekend, I encourage you to take some time to celebrate your child's achievements, no matter how big or small. Your recognition of their efforts is a powerful motivator and a source of great pride for them.
Wishing you a restful and enjoyable weekend.
**Please remember that school is not in session on 10/4/24.
Please Take Note:
Before School Reminders
Please be aware of the following times:
- 7:35-Students may arrive at campus if they are getting breakfast.
- Students on campus at this time should be reminded that they are to go to the Cafeteria where there is student supervision.
- 7:45-Students may arrive at school if they are not getting breakfast. This is also the time that students are dismissed to the play area.
- Supervision at the play area begins at 7:45 which is why it is so important that students do not arrive prior to this time.
Parking Lots
Please take care as you are dropping your student(s) off each day. Please only drop students off in the proper areas to maintain your student(s) safety.
TK & Kinder Arrival and Dismissal
Arrival-Thank you for staying on the outside of the fenced play area and leaving promptly when the bell rings.
Dismissal-We are asking parents to refrain from sitting on the cement bench outside of the TK/K play area on Thursdays. A couple of our kinder classes have specialists at the end of the day and the students have a hard time focusing on school staff as they return to class with all of the parents sitting right there. Thank you for your support.

National Hispanic Heritage Month
September 15th is the start of National Hispanic Heritage Month- a month-long celebration that honors the rich traditions and important contributions of Hispanic and Latinx people whose families are descendants from Mexico, Central America, South America, the Caribbean, and Spain. While it is not possible to share all of the incredible contributions and traditions of these beautiful regions, we will highlight them in our morning messages to students over the course of the month. If you have more to share about National Hispanic Heritage Month, we would love to hear your stories. Please reach out to me or Mrs. Allan. You can learn more about this monthly focus by visiting this website, which is one among many. Don't forget to complete our survey to share your family's heritage and traditions using this link, so we can be sure to include them in our school messages.
