Principal's Message from Ms. Dawn Besteder
Happy New Year,
The time between Thanksgiving and the New Year always flies by in a blur. Hopefully everyone had an opportunity to get some rest and relaxation and spend quality time with friends and family. Soon we will be approaching the 100th day of school. As we approach the second semester, teaching and learning remains a priority and expectations remain high. A couple of reminders to keep in mind for the new year:
Cold Weather:
Winter is upon us! Please make sure your child dresses for cooler weather and brings a coat to school every day. Don’t forget the hat and gloves!
Appointments:
Please schedule doctor's appointments and extra-curricular activities outside of the school hours. When your child arrives late or leaves early, they are missing valuable instruction. Your cooperation is most appreciated.
Arrival:
Parents who drop off in the morning need to be aware that students need to be IN THEIR SEATS by 9:10AM to not be counted tardy for the day. If they are dropped off too late, they will not make it to their classrooms on time.
Instruction:
Daily your children are learning how to decode words and read for meaning. Simple techniques include examining book illustrations, sounding out words, and recognizing rhyming patterns. Encourage your children to read daily. Always remember books make great gifts...for the holidays, and any other time of the year. According to the Family Literacy Foundation, the many benefits of reading aloud with children are:
- Children's self-esteem grows as they experience the security of having a parent or other caring person read aloud with them.
- Children experience increased communication with parents and other family members.
- Children are introduced to new concepts such as colors, shapes, numbers, and alphabet, in a fun, age-appropriate way.
- Children build listening skills, vocabulary, memory, and language skills.
- Children develop imagination and creativity.
- Children learn information about the world around them.
- Children develop individual interests in special subjects like dinosaurs, cats, or cars.
- Children learn positive behavior patterns and social values.
- Children learn positive attitudes towards themselves and others.
- CHILDREN LEARN THE JOY OF READING! ~American Association of School Librarians
Together we will continue to educate our students as we transition into a new and promising New Year.
PK Message from Mrs. Briana Cannada, PK Coordinator
Happy New Year!
As we step into a new year, it is the perfect time for fresh starts and new goals. Stay tuned for updates on school events and important dates as we kick off a new year of learning and growing. We are excited for the new topics that Preschool will learn and explore!
Important Reminder: Each Preschool student MUST have a current physical on file. This is MANDATORY for Preschool. If your child does not have a pediatrician or you are having difficulty securing an appointment, the Cleveland Clinic Mobile Unit may be able to assist you. They are at the Elementary Campus once per month and provide wellness services such as physicals, immunizations, testing, etc. If you are in need of these services, please reach out to Lincoln and ask to be connected to the Preschool Coordinator for further assistance. Also, If there are any forms that were given to you by your child's teacher that you still have not turned in, please do so at your earliest convenience as those forms are pertinent for preschool files and ensuring that our Preschool program is compliant.
Final Forms Update
Final Forms is an online platform where families can complete and sign all necessary school paperwork, including medical forms, contact information, and emergency authorizations, in one place, eliminating the need for multiple paper forms and saving you time by storing data year-to-year; and keeping information updated and readily accessible for student safety and to ensure your child can participate fully in school activities.
The District uses Final Forms PK through 12th grade and they recently reset everyone's final form accounts, so, Lincoln only has 3.5% (17 students) of our 495 students current. Parents we need you to go into Final Forms and update your information. Remember, the information you enter into Final Forms moves over to Progressbook. It is vital that we have the most updated information to contact families for any reason concerning our students. Please update Final Forms with the link below and thank you!

Social Skill Groups Permission Form
Dear Parent/Guardian:
I would like for your child to participate in a counseling group with me. This particular group will focus on a variety of social skills topics.
Establishing a peer support group at school provides an excellent opportunity for helping children who are quiet or reserved, have experienced trauma or grief, are struggling with attendance, have attachment concerns, etc. To grant consent for your child to participate, please complete the Google form.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at Abraham Lincoln School.
Thank you.

Good2Great Track & Field Program
School Store Fundraiser
Hello Parents,
In October, your child brought home a Book Buddy Lanyard letting you know about a safe and easy way for our school to raise funds for essential tools our students and teachers need to succeed. This program lasts the entire school year and the more emails you send the more prizes your child gets.
The SchoolStore Program is 100% online so there is NO face-to-face selling, handling money, or delivering products. Your participation will take less than 12 minutes, and there are exciting prizes to make it fun for the students.
Here is all you need to do to participate:
1. Go to https://www.schoolstore.net/sid.t?0000366007 to sign up or click link below.
2. Send 6 or more form emails inviting family, friends and co-workers to support your child.
3. Ms. Johnson will give the Book Buddy to the student at school the next day for their participation.
Be sure to send 6 emails so your child gets the Book Buddy tomorrow. Your participation will make a difference for our school and teachers! Some students have sent 1 to 5 emails, go ahead and send the rest, so they can get their Book Buddy and support the school while earning cool prizes.
Prize Levels & Points Earned (see photo below):
1. Book Buddy - 6 emails
2. Squishy Pen - 4 pts
3. Bookbag Buddies - 6 pts
