Hello Wildcat Families,

I love the start of a new school year. Yes, it can be a bit hectic, but it also holds all the hopes, dreams, and potential of the upcoming year. It's exciting. I love to think about the new friendships that will form, the bonds between teachers and their classes and the positive growth and changes we will all make over the next 180 days. Much like in January, this is a great time to think about what we want to accomplish and to make plans to be our very best.

I hope to see you all at our Sneak Peek on August 1st where students will meet their new homeroom teacher, and again at our Welcome Back Picnic on August 10. Please note, all student placements are tentative for the first few weeks of school. Based on the number of students we have in each grade level, we may gain or lose homeroom teachers. Please make sure your child is aware of this as well. We have had changes every year for the past few years, and it will all work out, but there are likely changes coming.

It's almost time!!!! On August 5th, we will allow parents to walk their child to class. Please do not enter the classroom. Just drop your child off at the door and head back to your car so you can open up a parking space for another parent. Thank you!

We know how much parents love to be able to come and eat lunch with their children and we will continue that practice after the first few weeks of school We want our students to have time to learn the rules and routines of the school year during the first few weeks as well as have lunch time to make connections with their fellow classmates. Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to welcoming you back starting on Monday, August 26.

Heads up parents, we are making changes to the way we do carpool tags. Previously, you received new tags every year. Moving forward, we are going to ask you to keep your tags (and therefore your numbers) for the duration of your child's time at Wilson Creek. When you leave, you will be asked to return your tags, and they will be passed on to a new family.

Also, just a reminder that if you have multiple children, it is important that we can see all of your carpool numbers when you pull into the afternoon carpool line. The picture above is one way you can make these easily visible to our team. Thanks!

You will be asked to sign a copy of this at Sneak Peek and I wanted to give you a chance to read it in advance as well as have a copy to keep at home as a reminder. Thank you in advance for following our rules and procedures for carpool this year!

Please know, we are cutting off the carpool line at 7:37am. If you are not in the loop by that point, you will be directed to park in our side lot and walk your child to the door. Please make sure if this happens, that you pull into a parking space and do not park your car in the bus lane or block someone in.

Because math Milestones assessments were updated to align with the new K-12 Mathematics Standards first implemented during the 2023-24 school year, math Georgia Milestones scores will not be released until later this fall. Individual student reports will be available after the math scores are released.

In the next couple of weeks, I will share Wilson Creek's overall EOG scores. Our students did very well, and I want to tell you all about it once we get the school year up and running!

At Sneak Peek you can sign up for a cafeteria account, learn about after school programs, get your carpool tags and bus information, meet your child's teacher and much more. Feel free to bring your child's school supplies so they won't have as much to carry on the first day of school.

Our digital sign is down. Please help us spread the word about registration, Sneak Peek and the first day of school. If you have new families in your neighborhood, share this email with them and let them know that the time to register their child is now! We are currently placing kids in classes and gearing up for the new year. Thanks for your help!

This year we are asking families to purchase regular backpacks for all students. The rolling backpacks have become a tripping hazard and since students are not carrying textbooks and technology back and forth between school and home, their backpacks should be light enough for them to carry.

If your child used a rolling backpack last year, please purchase a new bag that can be worn on their back. Thank you!

Infinite Campus Parent Portal: The Campus Parent Portal allows parents to view attendance, grades, update information, communication with teachers and more. Click the link below to find out how to set up your Campus Parent Portal. Infinite Campus Parent Portal– If you already have a portal set up new student will add automatically. If you have multiple students, you only need to set up your portal once. Both parents can set up their own account.

This is how to allow FCS (Fulton County Schools) email in Gmail:

Go to Gmail in the desktop browser and select "Settings".

Go to the "Filters and Blocked Addresses" tab.

Click "Create a new filter".

In the "From" field, put "@fultonschools.org", without the quotes.

Click "Create filter".

Check "Never send it to Spam".

Click "Create filter".

It is imperative we have at least one (1) local emergency contact (not living in the household) in the event we cannot reach you. It can be a friend and/or neighbor information. Please update your students record in Infinite Campus via a census update and email the application number to WCESResidency@fultonschools.org when completed.

Wilson Creek Elementary School will be celebrating our 20th Anniversary during the 2024-2025 school year! 20 years of being a part of the wonderful community of Johns Creek. 20 years of making a difference with parents, families and our wonderful students! Many things have changed, but our core values have stayed the same.

There will be multiple events throughout the year that we would love to invite our former students, staff and administrators to attend including a homecoming celebration both on and off campus! Be on the lookout for our calendar of events. We hope to see you soon and take a walk down memory lane!
