We are very proud to announce that Ms. Alaiya Shotwell has been selected as the School Social Work Association of Georgia District 5 Social Worker of the year!
Alaiya has been a school social worker with Cobb County School District since January 2021, and serves Tapp Middle School, Compton Elementary School, Kemp Elementary School and Vaughan Elementary School.
Alaiya also supports our community by working collaboratively with McEachern Methodist Church and Tapp Middle School to support the Good Grocery store. She serves on the Power Springs Task Force to ensure that needs of the community are known, she serves as the point of contact for our Dental Assistance program (which connects students in need of dental services and with no dental insurance with a dentist in the community) and as the chair of the Local Interagency Planning Team for Cobb County.
Wacky Hair Day-October 31
Wacky Hair Day will be celebrated on October 31. If you would like to participate make your hair as wacky as possible. Please no costumes on this day.
CCYA-PJ day $1
What better way to come to school after a late night of trick-or-treating? Wearing pajamas! Please bring $1 to donate to CCYA to participate. CCYA is an organization that supports youth that have no home. Center for Children & Young Adults

Chicken Biscuit Thursdays are back, and it's time to fuel up while supporting our school's STEM program! Grab your chicken fix every Thursday morning before school—but don’t wait too long, supplies are limited, and these delicious biscuits sell out fast! BISCUIT SALES BEGIN NOVEMBER 7th!
To participate, purchase a pack of 10 coupons for $45—no cash accepted. Payments can be made via Venmo, check, or Square, and must be submitted by Monday mornings each week to ensure your student receives their coupons in time. Let’s make a difference, one biscuit at a time!
