Dear Families,
Recently, I have had the opportunity to speak with several families about the volume of work our students are expected to complete daily. Please note that Peak Prep strictly adheres to the required yearly instructional minutes set forth by the California Department of Education (see image below). These guidelines stipulate the minimum number of minutes students are expected to be engaged in educational activities throughout the day. So while it may appear that our students are being assigned much more work than another school that your student may have previously attended, I can assure you that these guidelines apply to EVERY public school in California. Beyond that, we are also deeply committed to providing a high-quality education to each and every student at Peak Prep and ensuring that all of our students find academic success.
Thank you for your continued support and for being a partner in your student's learning! I look forward to sharing information with you throughout the year. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Warmest Regards,
Mrs. Sabrina Ciolino

What triggers re-engagement?
Re-engagement may be triggered by one or several of the following items:
2) If a pupil is not generating attendance for more than three (3) school days or 60% of the instructional days in a school week,
3) If the pupil violates the terms of their master agreement.
4) If a student fails to attend daily synchronous instruction or live interaction.
5) If satisfactory academic progress in one or more courses is not being made.
Satisfactory Academic Progress
- The student's achievement and engagement in the program.
- The completion of assignments, assessments, or other indicators that evidence that the pupil is working on assignments.
- Learning required concepts, as determined by the supervising teacher.
- Progressing toward successful completion of the course of study or individual course, as determined by the supervising teacher.
