DRES Family Message

Hello DRES Family,

We have only 5 1/2 weeks of school left so it is important that we stay focused on our learning. Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders need to prepare for their EOGs. Please review SOAR expectations with your children to reinforce appropriate school behavior.

Come join us this Thursday, May 25 from 6-8pm on the back field of the school to celebrate North Carolina with the following activities:

• DRES Chorus
• Stormy from the Carolina Hurricanes

Bring your lawn chairs or blankets for a picnic.

Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders are preparing for their End of Grade tests, also known as EOGs. 3rd and 4th graders will take the Reading and Math EOGs. 5th graders will take Reading, Math, and Science EOGs.

We must complete these tests during the last 10 days of school so we will begin testing on June 14. Please work very hard to get all of the 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders here to school every day on time on June 14, 15, and 16.

All students will be able to receive free breakfast on their testing days.

Are you available to help us during EOGs? We need proctors, which means you would walk around in the hallway or outside around the modulars to walk children to and from the bathroom or other classrooms. Click Here to sign up.

We would love to have some volunteers to help us provide lunch coverage on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Use this link here to sign up.

If your child will not be returning to Durant Road Elementary (other than those moving to Middle School) please send an email to Mrs. Antonio to let her know where your child will be going to school next school year. We need to be sure to have an accurate count of who will be returning to plan accordingly. Mrs. Antonio's email address is: santonio@wcpss.net.

On June 29 & 30th, we will have EOG remediation and retakes only for students that are passing their grade but did not pass the EOG. Parents of these students will be notified and invited to come to school for those days. Bus transportation and meals will be available.

All WCPSS students will be provided with log in information to access their student's Powerschool Parent Portal. If you do not already have access, you will receive an email from Silvia Antonio with the log in information, which will go to the email that you have on file. 3rd-5th grade parents will be given student EOG scores via this method so be sure to get this set up.
