The 2024 Heart walk will be on June 1st and the Athletic Department has put together a team named the Guardians. We hope to have Student-Athletes, parents, staff, community members join our team!

Greetings Sports Fans!
Here we are with the final week of Softball and Baseball as they finish up the regular season. Men’s and Women’s Golf is at State today and tomorrow. Men’s and Women’s Tennis head into their District Meets this week and Lacrosse enters the playoffs this week as well.
We had an incredibly successful JV and Varsity District Track Meet this past week with over 100 season best performances and/or PR’s. We had both individuals and teams qualify for the State Meet later this week. Asher Danielson was the District Champ in both the 1500 and 3000 and will also run in the 4 X 400 with Dylan Dimond, Forrest Holt, and Casey Miller. Dylan Dimond, Charlie Kramer, Tyler Marshall, and Marsellis Griffiths will compete in the men’s 4 X 100. Charlie Kramer was also District Champ in the Long Jump and will compete in the 200 as well. In addition, Tyler Marshall will compete in the 300m Hurdles. Rounding out the men's team, Pierce Meyers will compete in the High Jump and Max Smith in the Pole Vault.
On the women’s side, Avery Coker was the District Champion in both the 100m and 300m Hurdles. She will also be competing with Tilda Hathaway, Ava Malcomson, and Addisen Prather in the
4 X 100. Sohphie Weatherhill is the District Champ in the Pole Vault and will be at state competing and Josie Fale will be running in the 3000. Great stuff for the program!

GUARDIANS ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
Baseball
Jack Burnham
Jack was 9 for 11 with 7 RBI on the week for our JV White team as they won three games. Versus Grant, Jack pitched six innings and didn’t allow a hit striking out four. Versus Franklin he was a perfect 5 for 5.

Etai Cohen
We played our last season match against McDaniel on Thursday. At #4 singles Etai earned us a crucial win to take the duel 5-3. It’s not easy to go out and win a match when you know you the teams result is riding on you. A great show of athleticism and grit from Etai. A true example of playing FOR your team.
Tennis - Women
Liana Kryl, Senior
Liana Kryl is the Women's Tennis athlete of the week. On Thursday, Liana defeated McDaniel HS' #1 singles player in a tiebreaker during the hottest day of the season. The following day, Liana paired with Zoe Diven's to play her first doubles match of the season. Again, this was on the hottest day of the season. Liana and Zoe eventually lost to Tigard's team in a 10-point tie-breaker that ended in a score of 17-15. However, that was just the second loss of the year for Liana who has won 10 of her twelve matches; all but one was in a singles line.
Track and Field - Men

Peyton Hughes, Freshman
Peyton Hughes showed up huge for her team at the PIL JV championships. She qualified for the finals in each of the 100, 200 and 400. She also ran a great leg on the 4x100 relay. Her hard work and leadership were on full display. It is rare to see an athlete with the toughness and selflessness it takes to run all 4 events. Thank you Peyton!

New Head Cheer Coach Announced
We are extremely excited to announce the hiring of Sylvia Scott as our new Cheer Coach! Throughout the interview process, it was great to hear Coach Scott's vision for the program, her passion for the sport, and her intention on building a well-rounded team that focuses on the importance of fun, family, and healthy competition! We have the utmost confidence in her leadership and vision for the program. Furthermore, with Coach Scott in the building, she will be able to begin implementing and creating culture right away!
Please help us welcome Coach Sylvia Scott as our new head coach!

On Tuesday, May 7th, the Athletic Department along with members of the Athletic Leadership Council are hosted a now "annual" pancake breakfast for our teachers for Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week.

Unified Kickball
IBW is starting Unified Kickball this spring! Come join your fellow Guardians in the sunshine as we prepare for two tournaments later this spring. Unified is a lot of fun and 100% positive. I. The Creative Act
How does one convince themselves that what they're doing and working on is worth it?
The question of worth it is reliant on an outcome. We don't make these things for an outcome. It's not the mindset to make something great.
· The outcome happens, you're making the best thing you can make. It's a devotional practice.
· Whatever happens after that happens, and that part that happens after, it is completely out of your control.
· Putting any energy into that part that's out of your control is a waste of time. All it does is undermine your work.
Your work is to make the best thing you can. So any thought you have about outcome undermines the whole thing.

II. The Quest for True Belonging
