Library Information
Please take a minute to review this information with your student. QR codes to the acknowledgement will be available in the building during Back-to-School night.
Your child will begin bringing library books home in the next few weeks. We will be talking about the careful treatment and use of books during their library time, but I wanted to share our expectations with you as well.
This year all students have the option of checking out two to three library books (depending on grade level) each time they visit the library. I do ask that students check out at least one book. Students may keep the book for up to 21 school days but can certainly return the books sooner.
Guidelines for caring for our books:
- Please keep your library books in your backpack or school provided book bag (grades K & 1 only) when you are not actively reading them.
- Please make sure water bottles are kept separately from your books.
- Please do not let baby brothers, sisters or household pets have access to your library books.
- Please do not stand or sit on your books.
- Please do not write in or tear your books. Stickers should not be added to your library books either.
- Please do not eat or drink when you are reading your books. Please make sure your hands are clean before reading your books.
- Please DO use your imagination when reading!
- Please DO read your books to family members and talk about them.
Sometimes, in spite of our best efforts, accidents do happen. Should a book become lost or damaged, please have your student come and talk to the librarian about it as soon as possible. All reasonable efforts will be made to salvage or repair a book.
In the event that a book cannot be repaired or becomes lost during its loan period to your student, you may be liable for the full replacement cost of the book. Books are automatically marked lost once they are more than 30 days overdue, and emails will automatically be generated and sent home. If you receive an email about your student’s books, please feel free to reach out to Mrs. Hansen via email to make an action plan for resolving any issues.
Thank you,
Mrs. Amy Hansen, Librarian
