15mph School Zone
There is a new 15mph school zone. Starting mid-August this year, Redwood City is rolling out a pilot program to improve safety around schools. By reducing speed limits to 15mph, we're encouraging careful driving and creating safer walking and biking routes for students. This initiative supports both safety and a healthier lifestyle for our community. Please refer to the map to see what streets the new speed limit zones will be located. The speed limits near school zones shall be in effect while children are going to or leaving
Facilities Master Plan - Measure S
The Facility Master Planning process for the Redwood City School District, funded by Measure S, is a comprehensive plan that addresses current and future facility needs. To ensure the success of this project, it is crucial to gather diverse perspectives from across our school community. We are forming a Site Committee for Roosevelt that reflects a broad range of voices, including staff, members of the community, and parents of our students. The Facility Master Planning process will involve at least two Site Committee meetings. These meetings will serve as key opportunities for committee members to provide input, discuss priorities, and review preliminary plans. It will be a collaborative process that will culminate by the end of 2024 and result in a strategic and actionable plan for the future of our school facilities. If you would like to be a part of this process, please reach out to me at tmercer@rcsdk8.net to express your interest.
Roosevelt Library
We are excited to welcome our new librarian, Ms. Robles. She is in the process of getting the library up and running for our students, but in the meantime, she has prepared a newsletter for you that is linked here. She is looking forward to meeting our students and their families.
Back to School Night
Thank you so much for everyone who came to Back to School Night last night. We apologize that Ms. Kamlley’s TK presentation will need to be rescheduled, and she will reach out to her families when she is feeling better.
If you were unable to attend last night, or would like a reminder of what was shared with you, here are the links to the presentations:
Mental Health Services
Students have access to a variety of services provided by mental health counselors at Roosevelt. Please use this form to see what services are available and how to access them. Additionally, please take a look at the following counseling group flyers. If you are interested in your child joining a counseling group or have any questions, please utilize the link on the flyer or call the Roosevelt Family Center at (650) 482-2114 ext: 4743.
Dress Code
Just a reminder that our school has a dress code. We have free dress every Friday and on certain spirit days. (Next week for photo day is free dress). Roosevelt “swag” is available through our online store. All colors can be worn as part of our dress code.
School Site Council Members Needed
We still need 1 or 2 new members. The Roosevelt School Site Council (SSC) meets monthly online for about an hour. The role of the SSC is to ensure Roosevelt School is addressing the needs identified in the Site Plan (approved by the Redwood City School District Board of Trustees), overseeing the budget and actions needed. The SSC is made up of staff and parents/community members. The SSC will also be involved in the construction and modernization of the school through the new bond measure. Please let me know if you would be interested in joining. Either call the office at (650) 482-2413 or email tmercer@rcsdk8.net. Our first meeting will be on September 17 so I would like to have finalized members by then.
Need for Yard Duty
We are still do not have enough yard duty to support our students during lunch. If you would like to work for just over an hour each day at lunch, we would very much appreciate the assistance. The position is paid. Please contact the office if you are interested.
