Dear Sunset Families,
February is here, bringing new opportunities for growth, learning, and community connection! As we move forward in the school year, we continue to focus on kindness, perseverance, and celebrating each student’s progress.
This month is filled with exciting events, from classroom activities to special celebrations. February also reminds us to take a moment to appreciate the friendships and support systems that make our school such a special place. Let’s continue to lift each other up, stay engaged, and make the most of every learning moment!
Thank you for being such a valuable part of our Sunset community—we appreciate your partnership and support!
Looking forward to a fantastic month ahead!

Brand new"ish" news...
•Safety Scouts~ Tuesday night I had the honor and privilege to introduce our Sunset Safety Squad to the LVJUSD Board of Education. These students have taken on a true leadership role within our school, demonstrating responsibility, integrity, and a commitment to making Sunset a more positive place for all. As Safety Scouts, our 4th and 5th graders voluntarily step up during primary recess to reinforce our PBIS expectations. They actively model kindness, respect and safe play while recognizing and rewarding our younger students who do the same. Through their efforts, they are not just keeping recess safe but also building a strong foundation of community and positive behavior for our youngest learners
•Kindness Challenge Family Edition~ If you would like to participate in the Family Kindness Challenge, Check out the attached checklist below. It's a lot of fun.
•Computer Usage~ As we continue to foster a positive and engaging school environment, we kindly ask for your support in encouraging students to refrain from using their computers before the school day begins. While this is not an enforceable rule outside of school hours, we believe that starting the day interacting with friends, getting fresh air, and preparing for learning sets a much better tone for the day ahead.
This is simply a request out of respect for the school environment, and we appreciate your partnership in helping students build good habits. Thank you for your continued support in making Sunset a great place to learn and grow!

Student LVJUSD Gmail Accounts
In accordance with security guidance, IT has updated student passwords to 9-digits. That means students with 8-digit student IDs will need to add a leading zero and students with 7-digit student IDs will need to add two leading zeros to be able to log in. Students with 9-digit student IDs or who had previously changed their password to a personal password were not affected.
If students need help, they can get help from their teachers when school starts.
