Thank You!
Dear Leasure Families,
We are so grateful for your unwavering support during Autism Acceptance Week and for the heartfelt way you showed up for our students at the Marking Period 3 Awards Assemblies. Your presence, encouragement, and commitment to our school community help create an environment where every student feels valued, celebrated, and empowered. Because of your partnership, Leasure continues to be a place where kindness, achievement, and belonging thrive. Thank you for being such an essential part of all we do!
We are thrilled to share that our 5th-grade AAP students represented Leasure Elementary with excellence at the Science Olympiad held on Saturday 4/12/25 at John Dickinson High School. Competing against schools in New Castle County, our students demonstrated remarkable teamwork, creativity, and scientific knowledge, achieving top ten placements in several events:
Can Race – 1st Place: Students engineered and raced self-propelled vehicles made out of cans, powered by rubber bands and pencils, showcasing their understanding of energy and motion.
Circuit Wizardry – 6th Place: Participants tested their knowledge of simple direct-current electric circuits, distinguishing between open and closed circuits, as well as series and parallel configurations.
Egg Drop – 5th Place: Teams designed protective devices to prevent a raw egg from breaking when dropped from a height, applying principles of physics and engineering.
Forest Finds – 10th Place: Students identified various tree species and demonstrated their knowledge of forestry and ecological concepts.
Metric Mastery – 10th Place: Participants estimated and measured properties such as mass, volume, and distance, and performed metric unit conversions.
Solar System – 7th Place: Students showcased their understanding of celestial bodies, planetary systems, and astronomical phenomena.
Write It Do It – 9th Place: In this event, one team member wrote a description of a constructed object, and the other attempted to recreate it solely based on the written instructions, emphasizing precision in communication and interpretation.
We are incredibly proud of our students' achievements and commend their dedication and hard work. A special thank you to Mr. Werbrich and our supportive families who made this experience possible.
