You will only need to complete the form if you would like to opt your child out of the instruction. If you prefer your child to receive the instruction, you will not complete the form. The opt-out form will be made available in parent portal on April 18th.
DRESS CODE REMINDERS
Now that the warm weather is here, we want to remind families that students should come to school in a comfortable manner that allows them to be authentically who they are, while also complying with equitable dress code policies. If your child chooses their own clothes to wear, please remind them that some outfits are not appropriate for school.
The following are guidelines for apparel for all students. If you have any questions, please contact the school:
- Footwear should be comfortable and safe for indoor and outdoor school surfaces. Crocs, flip-flops, beach or loose footwear are not appropriate for school and may be dangerous on our playground.
- The length of shorts or skirts is to be appropriate for school and there is to be no wording on the seat.
- Inappropriate slogans, offensive content, or expressions, etc., are not to be worn on clothing.
- Undergarments are not to be visible.
- Any attire the administration considers interfering with quality of education shall not be permitted
A MESSAGE FROM THE SCHOOL NURSE!
Seasonal Allergies:
Pollen season is upon us! If your child suffers from seasonal allergies, please encourage them to wash their hands and face when they come in from playing outdoors. The Health Office can give students Visine eye drops for allergies, and a cold compress as needed. We do not have Zyrtec or other over the counter allergy relief medications.
Asthma:
Children with asthma tend to flare up this time of year. If your child is taking an inhaler at home and you would like them to also get it during the school day, please let us know.
Injuries:
Spring brings fun, and injuries! If your child has a cast, splint, crutches or has a concussion, please send in a doctor's note that states their restrictions/abilities for gym and recess. Students with concussions often need to slowly return to a normal school day and can use the Health Office to rest throughout the day. If you have any questions or concerns please contact us and we can come up with a plan.
Field trips and Medications:
If your child has a rescue inhaler for asthma or an epi-pen for food or bee allergies, they should bring their inhaler or epi-pen from home with directions for use and give it directly to the teacher to carry for the field trip. A nurse does not attend all field trips; however, all staff are trained on the use of epi-pens.
Forms for next year:
Forms will start to come home that need to be returned by October 15, 2024. The exam must be dated after September 1, 2023
- 3rd grade -Dental Exam
- 6th grade- Physical Exam
- 7th grade- Dental Exam
**Immunizations required for the first day of 7th grade: MCV & Tdap**
Please contact the Health Office if you have any questions.
