Back To School Night! August 27th: 5:30-6:30 pm
From 5:30-6:30, teacher presentations will begin. This is where you will have an opportunity to hear your student's teacher share about protocols, schedules and important information. As a reminder, this is not the time to discuss individual students or to have a teacher conference. Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to seeing you that night! This is an adult only event as it is packed with details.
Coffee Talk with Principal Arroyo! September 10th: 8:30 am
Bring your favorite morning beverage and come and learn about Hirsch Elementary and the opportunities we have for both parents/guardians and students! We will begin at 8:30 am in the MUR. A sign-in will be available that morning once students are in their classrooms. Any pending questions? Please submit them here in advance. LINK
Lost and Found
Oh no! We already have a few items in our lost and found. Please help us find their homes. (Two water bottles, a blue lanyard, and a silver metal bowl) Label your Bulldog's sweatshirts, lunch boxes, and water bottles. We have been able to return a few items as they were properly labeled. Going forward, we are unable to add pictures of lost and found items. Thanks for checking!
Help us bring music to our classrooms weekly!
- Hirsch Elementary has joined PTA in purchasing Music for Minors for our students. However, in order to help students have music weekly, WE NEED YOUR HELP! A free docent training occurs at the beginning of September and you can bring the joy of music to our classes. They do have a lot of their music already recorded if needed! Thank you for considering!

August Reading Corner with Mrs. Winmill
Welcome back to school, Bulldog Family! I am excited to start this new school year with all of you. I hope students were able to take some time to read over our summer break and found some new favorite books. I cannot wait to hear about summer reading adventures when we begin our library time together.
Here is a list of changes and reminders about library programs:
Library layout has changed just a bit in order to help things flow a little smoother.
Lunchtime Maker Space will be a little different this year.
Our 100 Book Reading Challenge is still active and I am hoping that we will add names to our Wall of Fame this year.
Our Scholastic Fall Book Fair will be in October. Our book fair kick off will be at the Harvest Festival and continue into the next week. Please make sure to look for additional information. I will need volunteers to help with this.
Library contracts will be sent home with students. Please make sure to read and sign this document as it will contain important information.
FUSD and Alameda County Library have partnered together to help out students have access to electronic books through the SORA app. I will instruct our students how to access this information during the first week of our library time. Our students will have access to grade level electronic books from the ACL collection.
Take care and keep reading!

Counselor's Corner
Hello Families,
I hope everyone had a fun and relaxing summer break! I wanted to remind you that as an elementary school counselor, I teach social emotional and career lessons, offer small group and individual counseling to students who need support, and help families connect to needed services. It is my hope that this school year is full of successful experiences for all students. Please feel free to contact me if you have any concerns about your child. I look forward to connecting with new and returning families at back to school night. Let’s have a great school year!
