I hope each of you recieved my welcome back letter through Parentlink. If you did not please take a moment and update your preferences in ParentVue and ensure you have the correct phone number and email address on file. If you still are not receiving them please make sure that you have not blocked the parentlink number or email. In addition to the welcome letter I had included our Family Handbook. We are looking forward to an amazing 2024-2025 school year. As we have had to adjust our staffing due to budget cuts we have had to reduce our points of entry in the morning. All students will enter the playground from Tetakusim with those who would like to eat breakfast will walk directly to the cafeteria. Please remember Tetakusim is a drop off/ pick up lane and no parking is permitted on the north side of the road. Our after school procedures will remain unchanged. Please refer to our Family Handbook for diagrams and full descriptions.
As a reminder, school starts promptly at 7:45 am. Students do not need to arrive before that time unless they are eating breakfast in the cafeteria. Students who arrive shortly before the bell tend to make the transition into class and stay focused more than those who show up early and are not eating breakfast.

Open House will take place on Tuesday August 20th from 5:30-7:00 pm. This is an opportunity to learn about Title 1, our academic programs, see what your child has been learning and discover ways you can support their academic growth. You will also have an opportunity during open house to sign up for parent teacher conferences which will take place on September 18 - 20 with extended hours to accommodate families. Students will dismiss at 10:55 am on conference days.
Our Parent Teacher Organization will have a table during Open House to share information and answer any questions you may have. Our parent teacher organization will be meeting on the first Wednesday of the Month at 5:00 pm. If you are unable to attend you may attend via zoom upon request.
To ensure the safety of everyone I would like to remind families of the following:
- Students may be dropped off AFTER 7:20 am. Students should never be left alone at a gate or in a parking lot.
-We are a closed campus with limited points of entry and exit based on available supervision. Only identified gates may be used to access the playground. Never climb over or try to enter a secure gate.
-Parents may walk their students to the exterior door of their teachers classroom and say goodbye at the door in the morning before the bell rings. After the bell rings only authorized personnel may be in the school building.
- Late arrivals will be escorted to class by authorized personnel.
- The entrance off of the bus bay is only for PRESCHOOL students. All others need to use the identified gates.
-Volunteers must be approved through TUSD. As our focus is on instruction, all classroom volunteers must schedule visits ahead of time with the teacher.
Wondering where morning drop off is? (All drop offs will be off of the main playground on Tetakusim) Where should my child line up? (Depends on teacher)What day can I bring in a goodie for my childs birthday? We Want You! We would love to have you as a partner. There are many ways in which you can support Maldonado Elementary. Our PTO and Site Council are looking for parents interested in supporting our children by planning events and advocating for the school. We are always in need of volunteers to assist in classrooms, read with students, and prepare for school events. TUSD Family Resource Centers
Family Resource Center services are available to TUSD students and their families, free of charge. Please call the center to register for classes. Childcare is available to TUSD students and siblings for most classes. Please inform staff of the need for childcare when you register. Include the number of children, ages, and any special needs. Interpreter services are available. Please inform staff of the need for an interpreter when you register. Please register at least two weeks in advance if interpreter services are needed.
