A Note from the Principal
Dear Olmito Elementary Families,
As we approach the Thanksgiving break, let’s make every day count! This week, like every week, is full of learning opportunities. To ensure your child’s success, we ask for your help in making sure they are at school daily. While the holiday season offers a chance for rest and relaxation, it’s important to take full advantage of the school days to help our students learn and grow!
Here are some important upcoming events at Olmito Elementary:
1) Generation TX Week at OES
This week, we’re celebrating Generation TX Week! Students are encouraged to participate in themed dress-up days highlighting college, career, and other post-secondary options. Please refer to the flyer below for the daily themes.
2) 70th Day of School Celebration
We’ve reached 70 days of learning at OES! Help us celebrate by dressing up in fun 70s attire on Wednesday, November 20th. Let’s groove into learning together!
3) Thanksgiving Luncheon (ECSE, PreK, Kinder, & 5th Grade)
Join us for our Thanksgiving Luncheon on Thursday, November 21st for families of ECSE, PreK, Kinder, and 5th-grade students. Pre-purchased tickets are required for all attendees. We look forward to celebrating this day of gratitude with you and your little Ocelots!
Luncheon Times:
- Kinder / ECSE: 11:00 - 11:30 AM
- PreK: 11:45 AM - 12:15 PM
- 5th Grade: 12:30 - 1:00 PM
4) Trash-to-Treasure Ornament Challenge
It’s time to get creative! Help us decorate the OES Christmas tree by making ornaments from recycled or discarded materials at home. Please submit your ornaments to Mrs. Miranda in the Science Lab by Monday, December 2nd, 2024. Check the flyer below for more details.
5) Coat Donation Drive
We’re proud to support the ONEHS Coat Drive, running from November 11th to December 11th. Please consider donating new or gently used coats and sweaters to benefit those in need within our Brownsville and Los Fresnos communities. Donation boxes are located near the front office.
Thank you for your continued support in making Olmito Elementary a wonderful place for students to learn and grow. We are excited about the upcoming activities and look forward to celebrating our students’ success together!
Sincerely,
Jennifer Garcia
