Birthday Treat Reminders
If a parent wishes to send treats to school for his/her child’s birthday celebration, that parent must notify the child’s teacher at least one week in advance. ALL food items must be store-bought and include a list of ingredients due to numerous food allergies.
Picture orders
We have started receiving picture orders so they will be sent home. It is not too late to order them online. Interstate studios sent a picture sample via email for you to review before ordering. Picture retake day is Monday, October 28th.
BE in the Know with Harmony
If you would like daily or weekly updates on school attendance, lunch accounts, grades and school discipline then sign up through Harmony. Log in to Harmony and select the menu tab, scroll down to notifications profile, set your profile settings as desired, then save your updates.
Our grading practice allows students to reassess if they get below a 70% on an assessment. The teachers will reteach and offer a retest. The grade can be replaced up to a max score of 80%. If a student did not put forth effort, refused or rushed then they can be given an option to redo the assessment without reteaching occurring. We also enter a 50% as the lowest grade to make sure that scores are not deflated from one grade.
WIN! What I NEED
Our beginning of the year data is in for K-6th grade. Teachers have looked at this data to create flexible groups to meet the needs of all of our students. The WIN block is designed to provide intervention, reteach and enrichment opportunities based on student data. Each grade level team is working together to provide a continuum of services to support students. Your child may be visiting another classroom, working with an interventionist, teacher or assistant at this time. These groups are flexible and will change every two to three weeks based on new student data. We think that WIN (What I need) is a huge WIN!! for our Eagles. Please talk with your child's teacher at conferences if you have any questions.
Counseling Corner
This week, Mrs. Steele (K-4) and Mrs. Kaelin (5-6) will begin lessons on the components of our Eagle Pledge, beginning with EFFORT.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to your student's prospective counselor!

FROM THE NURSE
Vaccination records are due to the school at this time. Please send in any vaccination records if you have not already done so. Students must still comply with Indiana State Vaccine requirements. Call or email Cassie Gustin RN with any questions at 812-952- 2555 ext 205 or gustinc@lanesville.k12.in.us. If your student has any medications that they will need to take at school (this includes Ibuprofen or Tylenol), please send in a med form for each medication. Each student will need their own supply of meds for school to leave in the health office. The medication form is attached. Please let me know if you have any questions.
We are running low on clothes and undergarments for students who have accidents, spills, etc.. If K-3 students could have a change of clothes in their backpack it would be helpful. We could use donations of solid color pants and new packages of underwear.
EAGLES ATHLETICS
Student athletes need to make sure they have completed Final forms. This gives your child permission to stay for tryouts, practices and games when held directly afterschool. Parents please join Eventlink.com for schedules and events. Go to eventlink.com and click create account. Add School and Notification Contact Points. Then Add Calendar by clicking on My Calendars - Manage My Calendars. This will keep you updated on events.
