Superintendent's Update
June 14, 2024
FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT'S DESK
Hello Auburn Families and Staff,
It has certainly been an amazing school year. Thank you to all of the families, students and staff who came together as a community for our kids. It takes all of us...rowing in the same direction to help our students succeed. There is no doubt, Auburn is a great place to learn and to work. And I don't know about you, but when I was young...seemingly ages ago...the summer seemed to last forever. We would have day after day of swimming, bike riding, playing basketball, kick-the-can and waiting until the street lights came on to know I had to go home. Now, the summer seems to fly by in an instant, often leaving me to wonder, how much time did I spend doing the things I love. This summer, I am going to make sure I have that time, while still preparing for the new school year. I know I will come back refreshed and ready!
I would also like to share with you that Gregg Desto, the current Principal of Auburn Middle School will be leaving Auburn to return as the Principal of Dudley Middle School, the place where he began his career as a principal. Gregg has had a tremendously positive impact on the staff and students at Auburn Middle School and he will be missed. I will share more information with you regarding this transition as soon as possible. Please join me in thanking Mr. Desto for his dedication to and support of the students, families and staff who have passed through AMS.
I wish you all a safe summer filled with the things that feed your soul. For the many family members and staff who work during the summer, try to find times to feel the sunshine and to do the things that you enjoy.
I am sharing a link with you from Congressman McGovern discussing his recent visit to Auburn Middle School to observe and learn about the Food Services program. It is an amazing testament to the hard work of Mrs. Pulver, our Director of Food Services and her entire team! They are rowing together to create a terrific experience for our students. THANK YOU!
If your child will ride the bus during the 2024-2025 school year, it is IMPERATIVE that you register now. We begin our fall planning with AA Transportation in the next few weeks and we want to make sure we have accounted for all of our riders. The link is below and we cannot stress how VERY important this is to ensure a smooth start to the new school year.
Thank you for your continued support of the Auburn Public Schools and watch your email for summer updates.
Best,
Beth
