Blue Mountain Elementary
Weekly Newsletter - Thursday, December 19, 2024
Upcoming Important Dates:
- December 20 - January 6 - Winter Break
- December 23rd - last day to register for Choir
- January 7th, Tuesday - School Starts Again!
From the Principal:
'While it would be dishonest of me to say that the adults here are not looking forward to the upcoming break, it is 100% truthful to say we head into it each year wishing we could keep the momentum going with our students. The level of focus and increased sophistication that is kind of the hallmark of students in the 2nd half of the year really starts showing up in December. Right when we start to feel that momentum build, we take a 2 week break. Again, nobody is complaining, but it does always feel a little conflicting. I say all of that, to say this...Enjoy the break, love up on your kiddos, have fun together, and maybe sneak in a book or two!!
We want to quickly thank you all for your support of our school fundraiser in November. Thanks to you all, we were able to raise over $60,000 that will be used to support our students and staff in the coming year. Those funds are used to support four paraprofessionals in our building, fund field trips, support teachers in outfitting their classroom each year, and a number of other critical items. The support you all provide with the fundraising and also just in being here to cheer on our students is amazing. Thank you!
I also want to thank you all for all you did to support our district bond initiative. This bond sets our district up for continued success for the next 10+ years. We will see improvements in the areas of technology, safety and security, and upgrades in our learning spaces over the coming years. Most excitingly, however, we will see a major improvement project focused on our playground kick off this spring! It is something that has been a passion project for a number of people in our school community for the last several years. Thanks to the passing of the bond, we are finally going to see that dream become a reality. Planning will kick off in late February with a hopeful completion date set for the summer of 2026! More information to come on this!!
We also want to take a moment to recognize students who earned awards this past month. Students were celebrated for their accomplishments in 4 areas; Academic Achievement (Mountain Top Award), Academic Effort (Lynx Spirit Award), Behavior (5B Master Award), and Citizenship.
