Serve on Nobles County 4-H Committees
Please review the available committees and sign up to support county-wide projects. All youth and adult volunteers are encouraged to join committees. A brief description and the anticipated number of yearly meetings are included on the sign-up sheet.
Attend Virtual Officer Training
All club and Federation officers should plan to attend virtual Officer Training on Sunday, November 17 and Tuesday, November 19. The zoom training will be led by youth leaders and teach skills about club activities and officer roles. Registration is available in 4-H Online: https://24SWMNOfficerTraining.4honline.com.
Federation Meeting Minutes
The Nobles County 4-H Federation met on Monday. The minutes are available for review and include information about FSA Youth Loans and the approved budget. The next Federation Meeting is Tuesday, January 21 at 7:00 pm.
November Cloverbuds
The Elk Tip Toppers are hosting Cloverbuds on November 10 at 4:00 pm in the Farmers Room. Registration is now open in 4-H Online. Invite a friend—Cloverbuds is for all youth in grades K-2.
November Ambassador Gathering
The youth ambassadors will meet on November 10 at 6:30 pm in the Farmers Room. Please join the GroupMe chat for more information. All youth in grades 6-13 are invited to ambassadors.
Rolling Hills Bank Heifer Program - Due October 31
The Rolling Hills Bank Heifer Program is now accepting applications. Each year, Rolling Hills Bank & Trust selects two 7th or 8th grade students to receive 5 bred heifers each for a 5-year period. The students are responsible for the care and management of the heifers. Annually, recipients must submit records of income and expenses and a summary of their efforts to promote the program to the Heifer Program committee. At the end of the 5 years, the current cash equivalent value of 5 heifers must be paid back to the program. Learn more on the Rolling Hills Bank website.
Re-Enroll in Nobles County 4-H
Thank you for your involvement in Minnesota 4-H! In order to remain enrolled, you will need to show your family’s intent to participate by logging in to 4-H Online and reviewing, updating and submitting the following information:
Your family's contact and demographic information, including club, school and grade.
Each family member's health and emergency contact information.
Project areas of interest for this coming year.
Parental consent required for youth participating in shooting sports/wildlife programs.

Annual 4-H Achievement Banquet
Save the date for January 12, 2025 for the annual 4-H achievement banquet hosted by the Okabena Bees. Award applications will be available in mid-November.
County 4-H Scholarship for College-Bound Youth
All youth in grade 12 or their first year of college are invited to apply for the county 4-H scholarship. Complete the application and letters of recommendation; submit by November 14 via email to Wendy.

Minnesota 4-H Young Writers Club
4-H invites youth to take the NaNoWriMo challenge and write a novel in a month! Youth in grades 6+ will meet virtually on Mondays in November and the first Monday in December to write together, share their work and connect with other writers around Minnesota. Youth will work independently and in small groups. There will be personal encouragement, weekly incentives and prizes available. Register today!
Seed to showcase: Preparing your agronomy project for the county fair

Super Sitters Virtual Clinic
We are excited to bring you our super sitters clinic series virtually this winter. Our goal is for you to walk away with the knowledge to be a super sitter hero! Sessions will be held from 5:45 to 7 p.m. on Nov. 18, 19, 25 and 26 and Dec 2 and 3. Register in 4-H Online by November 13.
MNclusion Event
Calling all 4-H youth and adult leaders with a passion for equity and making change in their communities in order for all members to feel belonging. Join us for the inaugural equity-focused leadership summit by Minnesota 4-H - MNclusion.
The summit will provide lots of hands-on learning, presentations and interactive discussions about equity and tools to support youth as changemakers in their communities. During this retreat Youth Equity Team [YET] members will share their projects and experiences, introduce participants to identifying equity issues and create action plans that create more inclusive environments.
Youth are welcome to come individually or with a team. The weekend will include a service project, multi-generational learning experiences, roundtable discussions on important topics the youth identify, and time for everyone to make connections and deepen relationships.
The summit will begin on Friday, Nov. 8 at 4 p.m. and conclude on Sunday, Nov. 10 at 1:30 p.m.
Attend National 4-H Conference - April 11 - 16, 2025
Deemed "the secretary’s conference," this conference is the flagship youth development opportunity of the USDA. Today, the conference remains true to its original intent to develop the next generation of leaders while continuing to be future-focused. The conference brings together youth, volunteer leaders, county and state Extension staff, land-grant university faculty and administrators, as well as state and federal government officials from across the United States and its territories. During the conference, delegates will become familiar with the government and future career opportunities, and share their voice with federal agencies and congressional committees. Promotional video
Attend Ignite by 4-H - March 12 - 16, 2025
Ignite includes four days of inspiring speakers, workshop sessions, activities, and entertainment. The summit will provide high-school-aged youth from across the country the opportunity to explore the best 4-H has to offer in Agriscience, Community Accelerators*, Healthy Living, or STEM. Participants will discover exciting career paths, make connections, and create an action plan to ignite change in their community. Promotional video.
4-H Explorers in Ag
Embark on a global agriculture adventure with the 4-H explorers in ag program! Together, with the Minnesota 4-H Agriculture Ambassadors. we will explore the rich agricultural landscapes of Cambodia, Poland and Canada—right from the comfort of your home.
You’ll dive into unique farming practices, discover different crops and learn about the diverse ways people grow food in various climates and cultures. But the adventure doesn’t stop there - at the end of each week, a special guest speaker from the country you’ve been exploring will join us for an in-depth discussion.
This five-week program kicks off with an orientation on Nov. 12 at 7:30 p.m. We’ll then meet weekly, culminating in a celebratory event on Dec. 10, where you can reflect on your journey and celebrate all you’ve learned. Register by November 8 in 4-H Online.

4-H Ag Ed Leader Exchange
Hey Ag Ed Leaders! Ready to dive into Minnesota Agriculture and level up your communication and advocacy skills? You’re invited to the first-ever 4-H Ag Ed Leader Exchange this fall! You’ll explore the world of Minnesota Agriculture from farm to table with exciting tours and stops on the UMN campus and around MSP. Registration is available in 4-H Online.
Details:
When: November 8-9, 2024. Starts at 9:30 a.m. on Nov 8 and wraps up at 4 p.m. on Nov 9.
Where: Based on the University of Minnesota St. Paul campus, but we’ll be heading out for tours and activities in the MSP area! We will be staying at the Country Inn and Suites in Roseville and will have coordinated bus transportation to campus and for our tours.
Who: Open to all youth in grades 7 and up.
Cost: Just $25! *** If you presented in the Ag Ed Leader in the Classroom project last spring/summer, you get to attend for FREE (if you register by Sept 30). After September 30, it will be $25 per participant.
Training for New Club Leaders
Join us for the New Club Leader webinar to learn more about the role of a 4-H Club leader, and be equipped with resources and techniques to develop your 4-H club. This 75-minute online training is open to Minnesota 4-H volunteers, potential volunteers, and youth leaders as part of our statewide volunteer development webinar program. While the content is geared toward new club leaders, anyone providing leadership and support to a 4-H members' experience will benefit from the material.
