PTSA Update
Wellness Corner
Greetings from the Wellness Center,
Feeling overwhelmed or stressed lately? If yes, try a mindfulness activity. What is Mindfulness? Mindfulness is the practice of being present and in the moment. When we get overwhelmed it is usually because our minds start to think about past setbacks or worries about future challenges -- this kind of thinking can lead to feelings of stress and even depression.
AVID Future Ready
Our AVID team wants to make sure that every student has information about college and opportunities to apply! Our Avid seniors recently participated in a workshop with GCU where they met with a college representative and received help on their application. Accepted students get flown to GCU for a weekend and participate in incoming freshmen activities. Private schools offer a lot of resources for students and we are proud to partner with GCU each year. Speaking of private schools, admitted seniors are taking a trip to APU on November 21 for their admitted student day! We are excited for our seniors who have been accepted to APU and are thinking about attending. Let's finish the application season strong! Only 2 more weeks to go!

Staff Spotlight
We would like to give a shout-out to our one-on-one aide, Ms. Dawn Kennedy. She has been in the district for 9 years and has been fortunate enough to watch the same student grow and thrive from elementary to now high school. That is something special most people don't see.
Ms. Kennedy possesses a lot of skills. One is a DIY guru. She makes her soaps and body care all from scratch. She is also a great cook. Her salsa is next level. Even local hot spots like Rey's Tepeyac and La Tolteca do not hold a candle to it. It is delicious. Ms. Kennedy also rocked out as the lead singer in a punk rock band back in the day. How cool is that?
Like most SoCal residents, Ms. Kennedy is a true blue Dodger fan. Watching them win the World Series was a highlight for her. On Sundays, you can catch her rooting for the Saints. She has sports running through her veins.
We thank you, Ms. Kennedy! You greet us with a warm smile every day! And you bring us really tasty food! Thank you for being a Viking!
From the Office of Ms. Smith
