Soar Like an Eagle!
Leyden is looking for students who want to be the mascot at different events! If interested, complete this application by the end of the day on Friday, September 13th.
Adventure Awaited All at the Student Activities Fair
Last Thursday and Friday, students visited the Student Activities Fair to learn how to get involved in the many activities Leyden offers. Over 30 clubs & activities participated each day.
Any student who completed the "Adventure Awaits" treasure map while at the fair was entered into a raffle. And the winners are...

East Leyden has over 60 clubs, including: academic, cultural, general interest, honors, music/performing arts, and service. To learn more, visit the East Leyden Clubs page or see a list here. Most clubs will have their first meeting within the next few weeks. You can always check the East Leyden Student Activities calendar or email the club sponsor for more information.
Do You Like to Dance?
Join the Fine Arts Dance Troupe, Orchesis, as they kick off their new season on Monday, September 9th at 3:10 pm in the East Auditorium.
Highlights this year include:
- Giordano Choreography Project - learn an original piece from professional dancer Analysse Vance and perform it in a showcase alongside 14 other high school dance teams
- Student Choreography Competition - get your friends together and submit your own original dance to the Illinois High School Dance Festival
- Leyden Fine Arts Dance Showcase - perform on stage here at Leyden
- Field trips to workshops and professional dance company performances

Studenti Italiani Visitano Leyden!
Beginning today, you may see some new Leyden Eagles walking the halls or sitting in your classes! 26 seniors & 2 teachers from Northern Italy will be spending almost 2 weeks at Leyden. The Italian students will spend some days shadowing students and other days exploring Chicago.
If you see any of the Italian students in the hallways, stop and say "Ciao"!
Service Club Gets Involved with the 100th Anniversary!
Last week, Service Club members visited local businesses and asked them to display Leyden's 100th Anniversary event posters. Thanks to the help of these students, the Leyden community will know about all the great events happening this year!
